Author Topic: Please Help - Issue with column header sorting across Playlists  (Read 2844 times)

I made Playlist 1 and wanted it to be sorted by Artist. I made Playlist 2 and wanted it to be sorted by Song Title. Every time I sort Playlist 1 by Artist and then go to Playlist 2, Playlist 2 is now sorted by Artist when it was originally sorted by Song Title. It seems that MusicBee does not allow separate playlists to have a standalone column sort?

If you right click on the playlist and edit it, you can tell it to remember its own view (including sort order), or set a specific custom view for it.

So this is weird. It has to be a MBP instead of M3U to save the custom sorting. Why is that? Even in iTunes it was never an issue to have different sorting throughout the playlists and I am assuming their playlists were M3U right?

Is there a way to default the playlist to do custom fields for the playlist only? Because now I am thinking I will have to go through ALL of my playlists and individually right click and edit playlist and choose custom for each one?!!

Yeah this seems like a huge oversight unless I am missing something? The functionality for this should just be included in something like MusicBee > Edit > Preferences > [Playlists]. That should just be its own like root or top level setting instead of having to right click every single playlist that I have created and tell it to be custom/standalone!

I suggest making a wishlist request for this.  There have been a lot of improvements since I started using MB, but I agree this could still be improved.

Done! http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=16243.0

Feel free to chime in, because I seem to have a terrible way of explaining things so my ideas might not seem so clear to the MusicBee developers.
