Author Topic: Adding a Playlist section in Preferences for Custom Field for This Playlist Only  (Read 2275 times)

When you create a playlist, you have to right click it and click Edit Playlist and set it to Custom Field for This Playlist Only in order to have the headers be non static to every single other playlist you have created. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to just have a top level setting created in MusicBee > Edit > Preferences > [Playlists] and ideally the Edit Playlist functionality would be contained there instead. The reasoning behind it is because you can't have Playlist 1 sorted by Artist while having Playlist 2 sorted by Song Title by default. Every single playlist in MusicBee seems to be based on a Static sort module or something. I don't know if I am explaining this too well, but in simple terms: by default, each playlist's chosen sort method should not affect every other playlist's sorting method; they should be able to be independently sorted by whatever header you desire by default, without having to right click and edit playlist set it to Custom Field for This Playlist Only every single time.

A global setting to make static playlists have independent views when not set to a specific custom view (basically what auto playlists already do, right?) would be really lovely.

+1 to OP's suggestion.

More generally, it would be nice to remove the need for proprietary MBP format playlists completely. Customised settings could be stored separate to the playlist itself, which would allow much easier import/export/transfer of playlists to other programs and devices.
Bee excellent to each other...
