I've noticed that musicbee searches for lyrics for any song which does not already have lyrics saved.

Whenever musicbee cannot find lyrics, it simply displays
"Unable to find lyrics
_google search_"

However, there are many songs in my library which do not have any lyrics, such as instrumentals. I suggest that in addition to the option to search google, there should be an option which marks a song as having no lyrics. (i.e. musicbee displays something like "No lyrics" for any song which you've marked as having no lyrics, instead of searching for lyrics every time).

Such an option already exists.
Change the lyrics to:
[Instrumental]
And MusicBee won't bother looking for lyrics, nor show any lyrics.

You mean [Instrumental] as new tag in the place of lyrics?
I didn’t find.

No, djirtsdew meant to write the text "[Instrumental]" into the lyrics tag.

Until now, I'm doing the same, but because of the new tag "Lyrics?", alekssmitt's suggestion would be a much better way: Instead of just having "Y [synched]", "Y [unsynched]" and empty, one could manually set it to "N", which would empty out the lyrics tag and prevent MB from trying to search every time for the lyrics.

Even more, there could be different kinds of "N", like "N [instrumental]", "N [noise]", "N [not found]".

No, djirtsdew meant to write the text "[Instrumental]" into the lyrics tag.

At that case djirtsdew can write any text, like “ghtfcghujgffuj”.
The point is if the text "[Instrumental]" was the value of the field “lyrics”, like this:
[ar:Rose]       - Service information, not readable by Lyrics readers.
[ti:Versalle]   - Service information, not readable by Lyrics readers.
[al:Bleu Noir]  - Service information, not readable by Lyrics readers.
[by:]           - Service information, not readable by Lyrics readers.
[Instrumental:] – This is wrong value, displayed as well by Lyrics readers.

For now in MP3 files exists many types of fields, and also exist the possibility to insert new ones. But before do this one must think a while.

Already exists the following fields (as example):
Genre
Mediatype
Mood
Unsyncedlyrics
InitialKey
Ets...ets…

Par example [Genre: Instrumental] this must indicate the lyrics doesn’t exist.  But!!! For my opinion this must be supported worldwide, not only in MB.

Why do you want to use synced lyrics format?
You can just enter [Instrumental] as unsynced lyrics and that's all.
Or maybe I don't understand something...
