@ KissCool - Thanks for the great idea!

IMHO, an option to auto-hide the player bar (as shown at the picture above) would be very welcomed  :)

That would be so sleek

maybe a mosaic of artist pictures would work? It could look as though the current playing artist pic has been selected from a 'wall' of artist pics.
edit:
maybe with a thin border around the pic that is generated like the visualiser colours
same problem - the gallery distracts from the artist picture. Also i dont think filling the area with a different version of the artist picture works well (i think people pictures are quite difficult to deal with).
I have one idea with a texture pattern that might work but will take some time

@iasc, i have for now restored the centering behavior for the next update with no fill for now

iasc, would the matching be acceptable to you though when the dominant color extracted from the artist picture is pink, aqua or lime green or something like that?

@iasc, i cant see your pictures from work so i cant comment on them just yet.
But one idea i am considering now is to fill the window with the next picture and then scroll them across like a slide show (sort of like the Artist Photos tab in the main player Playing Track tabs but much slower)

YES!  Would love to see how that turns out.

@Steven - sounds interesting, look forward to seeing it.

@Alexis - merely a suggestion. as i only use local pictures that i have downloaded which fill the compact player  this may be a feature i wont be using so i am just making suggestions to try help out. in response to your question though, once a back round picture or texture was chosen it may just be a case of applying a hue to the picture that is taken from the dominant colour. only steven can say if this would be possible with music bee.

- Fixed-size support for compact TM has not been implemented yet.
- Would it be possible to support artist picture, artwork and lyrics-handling functionality for TM too? For instance, double clicking for enlargement, right-click menu items for editing lyrics and searching artwork, etc.

@iasc,
I know it was a suggestion and did not see it as anything more.  What is sad  is that I did not or could not envision what you just demonstrated, so now I see what you mean.

About compact player, could we have this feature: auto-hide the player bar (like it does for the left and right panel)? IMO, would be perfect for a show off mode:

Would be a really nice added touch as an option in current configuration indeed.

i have given up trying to make the player scroll pictures when they are too small as its too hard to get working well.
What i have done is tweaked the layout and fill the main picture section with black when the picture doesnt fill. I think it works ok this way but if people still dont think it works well then the last thing i will try is still keeping the fill area black but putting in a subtle fill pattern using the dominant picture colour.
Also there is now an option to auto-hide the player controls

While I also think the black fill is OK in the compact player, these changes also affect the 'Playing Track' tab in the main panel, and the large areas of black don't work as well there (IMHO), especially with light skins.

Maybe the fill pattern will be the effect that works for both areas, otherwise, I think reverting back to the coloured fill (maybe darkened a bit?) would be the best compromise.

from my perspective the new changes don't work. i only use local pictures for rotation and some of the pictures which mostly filled the compact player before now only fill a small area.  i guess this is going to be a case of not being able to please everyone. if necessary i can always delete these pictures anyway.

@iasc, it should have been resizing the pictures when there is a significant gap but i see there was a bug so hopefully it works better now
additionally i have further tweaked the colouring used to fill the gap areas along the lines suggested by beeliever
