I just updated to the new beta release - how come this new compact player is still a separate patch? Seems to me like it is solid and feature heavy enough to be included with the beta releases now.

it has been included with the last 2 beta updates but for people already using musicbee the default would remain the old compact player so they need choose it from the Layout(2) preferences

In my opinion the track's Rating stars should be moved back to the Track Info panel. They are not controls like volume or wavebar, but the part of the track info, so it's place is a among other information, not on the Control Panel.

Small request:

I'd like to see "progress bar on bottom" option at the bottom. Confusing when adjusting progress bar.

didn't notice that, thx for a notice:)

EDIT: However Rating is not editable when displayed in Track Info field.

EDIT 2: Morever, it won't refresh when I change the rating. F.e. if I rate a currently playing track, it's rating displayed in the Track Info field stays unchanged (unlike any other tag - they change instantly). It needs a replay to show the rating change.

- tweaked the player controls layout very slightly and the minimum width requirements
- when the right panel is overlaid onto the artist picture, the album picture is now shaded as well so its not too bright compared to the rest of the panel

I've encountered a problem, when you set "overlay the right panel onto the picture" and NOT set "extend pictures into the caption bar" you'll get this

I have latest beta version (2.1.4860)

OK, I wasn't precise enough. I did it as you suggested, the thing is, I have rating column set in Now Playing right panel, so that I could rate tracks even when they are not being played at the moment. That

However, rating the currently played track IN THE NOW PLAYING right panel doesn't cause the change of it's rating in the TRACK INFO panel.

Think the print screen would show what this small bug is about:

thats fixed now (only applies if you have unskinned window borders)

also when the right panel is overlaid onto the artist picture and the artist picture doesnt take the full window width, now its left aligned and slightly blended on the right side of the picture which i think looks better

- the last version had a bit of debug code that muted the volume on startup which has been removed now
- some tweaks to the layout of the player controls for when people use this with a not-so-compact size
- and some bug fixes for when the right panel is overlayed onto the artist picture

When manually adding lyrics to songs,  compact player does not accept pasted lyrics.  Gives you the option to, but nothing happens.
They are not lazy... just more efficient.
