I'd have that one as my default if it was implemented. The only thing I'd prefer is for artist pictures to extend a bit lower all the way to the playing bar, with the album art in front of it, as it does in the current version.

Look at the colors for MusicBee menu button text (top left) and time duration (bottom right).

It would be great the former follows fg value of MenuButton.Default, while the latter follows fg value of PlayerSidebar.Control.Default.

I am honestly pleased with the player at this stage, except for two things I feel just seem like nags to me.

The min, max close button persistence, as well as the  delay in hiding the musicbee  menu button on the left.

They just do not feel 'right' to me.
They are not lazy... just more efficient.

when i able to spend time on this i plan to
- auto hide the control buttons along with the menu
- be able to temporarily pin the auto-hide panel open
- some form of library/ playlist navigation on the left panel (via an auto-open panel)
- skin colouring overrides

not much time is available at the moment though

- option to show the track rating and/or last.fm love button in the player controls bar
- option to overlay the right panel onto the artist picture - the only limitation is you can only show one tab in the right panel (the others can be accessed via the auto-open mechanism)
- the overlay colour mask is always set to black - it didnt look good using the skin colour for neutral colour skins in a lot of cases
- changed auto-hide settings so that it can only be done for all panels not displayed (before they could be done indiviually) - this is to simply the configuration settings
- the auto-open popup panel can be temporarily pinned open
- tweaked the display of the menu button and control box when the artist picture is extended into the caption bar

Nice changes indeed!

The only thing that is still bugging me is that the wavebar looks a bit crammed even after the recent changes unless you increase the size of the window to a large enough size that its no longer considered "compact". The classic progress bar can be put either on top or bottom of the player controls. Steven what do you think about giving the wavebar the same options? I think it would be a lot more practical..

The "pin now playing list" function is lovely. A small improvement I'd like to see is to give the now playing list focus just by moving the pointer over it without the need to click.

The jury is still out for me on this one.

Well, the jury's verdict is finally in, and I have to say that you've done it again Steven.
Despite my earlier misgivings, the 'Modern' compact player has turned out to be a beautiful and functional addition to MusicBee.

Can I please have an extra big scoop of ice-cream with my humble pie?  :)

BTW:
some of the pics and colour combinations look so good, is it possible to have a key-stroke combination to temporarily pause the rotation until the end of the track?

i've added a hotkey to suspend artwork rotation:

it should reset on the next artist

I have not been following this topic very closely, so forgive me if I am addressing something what has been discussed and agreed on already.

There is the option 'hover mouse on the right window edge to open panels not shown'.
When I have the Now playing list shown, and not the Bio and Lyrics panels, those two panels do not appear when hovering over the right side? (which I would expect)

is anyone else having problems with the right panel auto-open functionality not working?

Please don't think I didn't check several times with different and delicate mouse placings before reporting, but now suddenly it is working as expected...
