You mean like this?

Thank you so much.  Absolutely!!

Pardon my ignorance, but did you crop that or something... or were you actually able to produce that in the real thing?

Of course it's a mockup. I love the idea!

Just my thought...

As I said earlier, I think this new look has a great potential to change the typical impression about MB: good organizer, manager, versatile features, but no mention about the look. Now this will change that for good.
I think probably there are much more people out there who are looking for a simple, lightweight, good-looking music player, with no concern about organizing and managing music files. To them this new look will have a huge appeal.
I'm thinking to the point that maybe this could be a default mode of MB. Main player mode can be an extended layout for more "advanced" users. Yeah, I know, the real strength of MB lies in its amazing organizing/managing ability, but they could find it later.

First of all regarding the new changes, whilst I was a fan of the 'blur' effect, the new version with its clear division of the transparency is actually much cleaner and I agree with this choice completely.  It looks great.  I will say however, that whilst this new approach always looks great with the small cover artwork option, it works less well with large cover art.  If you use large cover art and get a landscape orientated artist picture, the solid block of colour you are left with below can be a little jarring.  I think i preferred this case with the blur effect.

Second, and sorry to repeat my earlier post, but I really want the shuffle button visible in the player bar (as can be seen in redwings image/mockup a few posts back).  I do not have this, just the volume button, and cannot figure out how to make it appear!

Last, I use MB on a low-res laptop (1366x768) and run into the issue shown below with the new compact player preferences menu.  The 'Apply/Save/Close' buttons disappear below the windows taskbar and are only (just) pressable by dragging the menu as high as possible.  Could the menu be split somehow to avoid this?

Someone may be able to help you better, but  do me a favor please if you can and and just click once in the area it is supposed to be.  If it does not show up,  right-click in that area and select it from the drop down menu and see.  .  I stumbled upon it myself, so curious to see what you get.

(I tried responding from my phone but the text went all over the place.)

Thanks Alexis, tried clicking the area where it is supposed to be and it does indeed toggle shuffle on and off.  The button is just not drawing then?  Tried switching to the default skin to see if my skin was the problem but still no luck...  Right-clicking brings up the mini-menu as it should but does not get the button to show itself!

It's really complicated and should be sorted out properly.

1. Go to main player mode and open right panel.
2. Double click on Now Playing list header and you will see a compact player shape floating window.
3. Right click on it> Customize panel settings> and tick "show all player controls"
4. Change to modern layout and you will see the shuffle icon back.

Currently the option is grayed out in classic compact player mode.

Hooray!  Thank you redwing, thats done the trick.  Very glad to have the problem solved but that is pretty convoluted.  Hopefully this can be made a little more straightforward at some point.

You're welcome.

I think the following points deserve some consideration.

1. Whether to allow, as current, two players (along with top/bottom player) visible and usable in main player mode such as side players and that "pseudo" compact player. Personally I don't see the point of allowing that.

2. Too many access points to "Now Playing layout configuration" pane, and each route shows slightly different visible/available options with little consistency. More importantly, some settings are not respected when accessed and saved from different access points.

i had the same problem, i had to hide the task bar to hit 'Apply/Save/Close' buttons but since the latest patch i can no longer see the buttons at all even when dragging the panel up as far as possible.

with regards to the random picture during rotation - disabling flicker has stopped all the completely random pictures appearing but there are still a lot of album covers and band related posters coming up as well  but it is a big improvement on before for more obscure bands.

the compact player just keeps getting better. thanks for all the work.

IMO the right one looks better and cleaner. How about mouse-over top border? Would it be possible?
Or you could implement sort of compact full-screen mode that can exit by pressing esc.

A wish, and a suggestion for the new compact player.

- I've grown very accustomed to having the player controls on the right side in my skins.
I would really appreciate if there was the option to place the player controls on the right side in the compact player too.

- Could be nice to have the option to have a clean floating view of the artist picture uncropped when double clicking it.
(the same as is possible with album covers)

i really like the way the picture on the right looks.

apologies if this was discussed earlier in the thread but what do people think about stretching the visualizer the whole way across when the right panel is open.  the left picture is the current layout, the right is the proposed change.

Yup, I suggested this a couple of times.  :)  Although I think it wouldn't work well unless the side panel is specifically coordinated with the rest of the player (which I also think should be done).

I've struggled with this as well, including the Now Playing settings from the main player.  My taskbar is on the right side of the screen, but it's still a tight squeeze.

Request:
Since the  wavebar does not show for the streaming music.. is it possible to have the progressbar be populated when streaming?  Like right now i have an addiction  to the wavebar, so the progressbar is not visible..... but when streaming, there is no progressbar or wavebar.
