In that recent changes to the wavebar.. the median line helps give the bar character. not sure if it was there before and hope  that skinners will be able to manipulate it.

It has a cool fish-bone type appearance.

For the tiny differences in height, the two views almost look like different players.
I wonder if something can be done to improve the right one which looks flat and almost unfinished.

This is why I suggested applying a small gradient to the bottom of artist images even when they're not cropped.

Anybody having problems queuing tracks in the compact layout? Last night it did the thing where it queues the first track I started playing music with instead of the one I was on, then today it won't queue any at all.

Comparing the marked improvement I think I am seeing with the wavebar:

Because I listen to many artists that are not well covered, I would like to request the possibility to populate the  image area with something if there is no artist picture available, so that one is not looking at something like this:

seeking anyone else with comments on this:
- how do you use the compact player around setting up and maintaining playlists - do you find yourself going back to the main player often to add tracks to the now playing list? Although there is a the "Now Playing Assistant" i am thinking that some sort of library navigation should be more integrated into the compact player (I have some ideas about how to do that when the artist picture is not displayed but i would be interested in comments about the need for it)

the main reason i go back to main player is to access my playlists so easy access to saved playlists would be a welcome addition.

I find myself hitting the bee icon and then 'open playlist' a lot.  its actually pretty convenient as it is.  there is no particularly intuitive way to queue specific songs but i have no problem using the now playing assistant for that.

Agreed.  I like redwing's idea of being able to paste an artist photo, but at least having a placeholder in the meantime would be nice, too.

Actually, what I think would be really cool in this view is if MB could detect whether it found album art and/or artist photo and adapt accordingly.

I thought the same thing, but did not know how doable or practical it would be.. but I do know that with MusicBee... it is easy to populate all of one's library with album art.. and I can say that every one of my artists have album art, so that would be convenient.

- some minor tweaks to the wavebar
- vertically oriented artist pictures that have too much (>75% height) cutoff are now sized so the height fits the panel
- new option to show a smaller album cover (so it doesnt spill into the artist picture like the larger album cover)
- tweaked the "Playing Track" tab in the main panel - its more like it used to be (except the visualiser)
- a few bugs fixed

Maybe MB could default to Album Art if no Artist pic is found?

The small artwork option is exactly what was needed to make the smallest size look just right.  Awesome!

Adjustment for vertical pictures is much better, too.  Thanks!

for someone  like me that use a single line of text, the small album art, which I  totally agree was needed, is not looking so hot here  with regards to the text... lots of blackout space under the title..  yet there are some tracks where said background is transparent so does not look as bad, but the text is just too high.

Sorry Steven, I am sure we will be slowing down soon.
By the way..  when selecting small picture.. if one leaves the small picture checked and unchecked album picture, it still remains on the player.

the text is just too high.

Leave the first two fields empty and enter a space in their prompt box. This way you can adjust its height.
