Hello!

I recently switched from songbird to musicbee and i am really impressed. However, I experienced two problems when syncing my MTP device.

1. In the forum, i found some threads mentioning two-way syncing of ratings. In the Auto-Sync settings tab i can only find the option to sync playcount, not ratings. Am I missing something or is that feature only available for apple products?

2. When syncing a playlist in MTP mode, MB will copy every file, even when it is already on the device. According to another thread (http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3029.0), this is due to the missing modified date on the device. I was wondering if there is a way to add a feature that lets the user choose, which criterion is used to determine if a file is already on the device (File size, hash or something like that).

Thanks,
LeMirque

for 1, its only implemented for iPods
for 2, are you using MB version 2? If you go to windows explorer does the modification date show on the music files? Let me know if you would run a debug version

Hi Steven, thanks for the quick reply!

1. Is the feature planned for other MTP devices? The ratings sync fine in the other direction (Desktop -> device)

2. Yes, I am using version 2. No modification date seems to be written to the file. The column in windows explorer is completely blank. I suppose it's an issue with the (Philips) device, not with MusicBee, but of course I would run a debug version if you think that might help. Where do I get one and what exactly would I have to do with it?

version 2 should already be automatically detecting when a date is not supported on the device and adjust the synching method automatically. I will prepare a debug version later in the week to figure out why that isnt working

Oh - i had only updated to v2 yesterday. I just ran another test, and it seems to work fine so far.

Sorry for the false alarm - and thanks for the great software.

After it seemed to work for a couple of times, the error re-occured now. Each time i cancel the syncing process and restart it, MB starts copying all files from the playlist from the very beginning, even if they had just been succesfully copied one minute ago.

I will play around a bit more to see under which conditions the error occurs and when it doesn't.

Edit: A little correction - not ALL files are re-synced, only some. I don't see any regularity in which files are re-copied and which are not though...

just to add to this, i've noticed that,
for example I had an artist called Blink-182, i had previously synced this with my device so the folders read Blink-182 where appropriate.

However, recently i corrected this to blink-182.
While the changes on the computer were fine to do with the case (all my music moved from Blink-182 to blink-182, on my device the music would stay in Blink-182 and therefore ask me to re-sync all my blink-182 songs every time.

The work around i've just manually done, is to delete the Blink-182 folder on my device and then re-sync to let musicbee recreate the folder with the correct case. I imagine this is more Windows' fault rather than MusicBee's ;)
