i'm not sure i'm going to be able to help you here - it seems apple is going out of its way to make life difficult for non-iTunes users. Are you using the latest iTunes version by any chance?

I haven't upgraded to the absolute latest iTunes, but the iPod's firmware is up to date. No problem if you can't manage to fix it -- I'll probably just sync through iTunes...

I've just updated to the latest beta, and everything seems to be OK... :)

i did make a fix for MTP devices in the 1.2 beta but didnt think i had done anything for iPods - but as long as its working.
By the way the 1.2 beta i just posted contained a bug for ratings so please use the latest link
