I can't move tracks around a playlist when that playlist is set to "Album and Tracks" view. Obviously would like to be able to...

...or at least drag and drop whole albums around! Right now the only thing you can do is drag one album onto another which combines the two (should offer a warning first, I think!)

Sorry but I don't see how this would make sense, since the view is always sorted in some way. What would happen then if you could re-arrange the albums and tracks and then click any column header to for example sort by artist name... then your arrangement would be gone so for this wish to work you would also need some way to save how you dragged your albums and tracks around.

Is there some way you want to have your albums and tracks appear that you can't achieve using a custom sorting?

Well, that's exactly the purpose of a playlist, right?

The problem seems to be that the playlist order (#) column doesn't appear as a sorting option in the Album & Tracks view, so you can't edit the order without switching back to Track Detail.
