Hi.

Eclxcluding Sony's Media Manager nothing else on windoze manages memory cards thro MTP (Songbird, Winamp etc), which is why I am so pleased.  Songbird has an ongoing MTP bug that it never fixes.  I notice interestingly that my son's phone works better so It may be phone related.

Hi.

Wonder if it would be possible to change the podcast folder to "music/podcast"  (currently it is "music/Podcasts").  Works better with my phone as stuff in "music/podcast" shows up in my phones podcast menu.  Would be happy if I could set the path myself like I can the music folder.

anyone you want to use memory cards on your MTP device for synching, this should fix it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?hajhnzzwgxn

however i still need to get playlists working correctly when not synching to the primary storage folder on your device.

I have Nokia N95 8gb and similar problem. Cant find device's storage. With device settings, it suggests C:\Music . If I synchronize to this map it copyes music to C disk on computer.
Link abowe doesn't work

just download the 1.2 beta in the downloads section.
I'm not sure why it would default to c:\music - i assume c: is your hard disc. I suggest you see if you can navigate to the correct storage folder using the navigator under the devices tab on the left panel, then copy and paste the path from the main panel header into the device preferences
something like:
WALKMAN\Storage\Music

I already have 1.2 beta. By side it shows disk C (which is on my computer HD)

when you plug the MTP device in, does it show under a "Devices" header on the left sidebar?
(the computer section will not show portable devices, just your hard discs and cd drive)
If the Nokia doesnt show you need to tick 'detect MTP devices' in the main preferences panel

Yes, it shows under a Devices header. I will try this at home, where I have Windows 7. Here, at work I have XP.

it should work on XP as well (although some people need to install windows media player 11 to get it to work on XP)

so under the devices section you see your device with an icon and it has the name 'disk c'
can you click on on the Storage Folders under this and then navigate to the music folder?

I can see storage folder, but it shows nothing.

Now I'm at home. Windows 7. When Nokia is connected, Musicbee CTD.

what did you mean by CTD?
if you use windows explorer, i assume you can navigate to your music folder? Would you mind sending me the path of the music folder (as displayed in the header bar in windows explorer). What i will do tomorrow night is create a debug version to try and figure out where it is going wrong, although i'm not very hopeful i will be able to solve this

Crash To Desktop. Only in Windows 7 (64bit). If program is running with "Detect MTP devices" unselected, I can connect Nokia. But when I check "Detect MTP devices", program crashes.
If program is running with "Detect MTP..." and at same time I connect Nokia, it CTD.

Now back to my work PC (WinXP). As my Nokia is recognized, and I click on Storage folder on Devices tree I get this error:

Hope this would help.

Hm, interesting... When I select preferencis (right click on Devices, Nokia), on "music root folder" is now forsed letter "E:\". If I type there "Nokia N95 8GB" as device name is, then save it and opened again I get this:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v61/McMatt/?action=view&current=MusicbeeNokiaPref.jpg
What should I try to type inside?

could you try this version - it logs some information as it loads the MTP device so it might give me some clues what is happening. If afterward you go to View/ Error Log and send me the latest entries starting from 'Detect MTP devices'. In your windows 7 case, it might be crashining before this but it will be helpful to know that (by the way, i use an MTP device on windows 7/ 64-bit so i dont think it is a general problem on win 7)

Here is last part of log file. Before that there was earlier dates. It's interesting, that sub folders of Nokia are correct. This is on Windows XP. I will try this new file also at home on Win7 in about 9 hours.

this is helpful and i can see why you get the strange behavior with c:\ and e:\
Its also probably causing some conflict within MusicBee with the hard disc storage (dont think that explains the crashes  on windows 7 though)
I'll be able to look at this more tomorrow
