This might be a bit of a stretch, but would it be possible to add another option here so that when you disable the "Switch to album and track view for drilling down" so that it goes into Album image view when you double click an Artist you could have the option for the "show album tracks at the bottom of the main panel" just for that view (albums) and not for the artist view.
