Author Topic: Option to disable header in Now Playing List, Album and Tracks view  (Read 3862 times)

When you browse the library the header that groups albums under the same album artist is a really nice thing, since it allows you to go quickly move from one artist to the following one.

But when it comes to the now playing list, in my opinion, it doesn't help that much. When you add albums to the now playing list you usually pick albums from different artists: one (perhaps two) from one artist, another one from another artist, and so.

So that could be the look of a now playing list with albums picked:

That is: album artist header - one album - another album artist header - another album... The header is not really grouping here and is taking a nice space in the screen.

I think it would be interesting to have the option to disable it (or to reduce to a horizontal line) in the now playing list.

That's better, of course  :)

In my opinion, if you can do for any playlist, it'd better to separate the option disable in now playing list - disable in library (or maybe it can be disabled in the tab contextual menu for each tab).

i've implemented this for the next update. Its configured in the Album and Tracks layout where you can specify whether a grouping header is displayed, not displayed or not displayed just for playlists (the default)
When a header isnt displayed, the Album Artist is included with the fields displayed with the album picture

i've made another improvement to the Album and Tracks view - it should now display and scroll faster with a lot less smudging that you got when scrolling in previous versions. I have tested this and should work OK but need to do more testing later today. Anyone who is interested to try here it is but keep a copy of your current version in case there is some bug:

tested and tweaked some more - it should now be more responsive now with rendering the artwork if your collection is large. Also the previous version wasnt releasing memory as quickly as it could

Sorry to Hi-Jack this thread, but as an extension to this, would it be possible to have the option to disable "Display first few tracks" option just for playlists. This is a great feature for browsing but with it enabled the playing track can be hidden by it in the playlist.

yes i agree - this has the change so that the "display first few tracks only" setting and "number of tracks before artwork is displayed" is now separately configurable for playlists in the album and tracks layout settings

also note, if you use auto-tagging functionality, you need to redo the Tags(2) settings to re-enable MusicBrainz in the tag providers
