When sending 20 files yesteray that had been added to my library by "sending copy to" I must have inadvertently hit an incorrect selection because it made the files unplayable on my M. Since that time I have deleted the files from my library/PC and re-added them. For some reason it is not re-adding these files to my library when I do a rescan. Files are showing in the source folder but not adding to my L. If I add a new album etc. to my library it adds it OK. Somewhat confusing I know but hopefully someone might be able to help. It just seems to relate to the specific 20 songs.

When you open menu File->Add Files to Library, browse to where the files are and hit Open, what happens?

Opens Windows Exp and asks for folder to add from. However when I add one of these files the same thing happens (i.e. doesn't add file for me to see in M. I recreated all the files in question again and then gone through the standard process to add to M library. Still won't do it. It's like it has tagged the name of these files somewhere which prevents me adding.

Actually highlight the FILES themselves, not their folder, before clicking the "open" button--is that what you did?

It sounds like you using the Add Files function correctly. I don't think there is any way to block files from being scanned into the library using this method so...

Could it be that the files are actually already in your library?
 • Maybe in the wrong node (e.g. Inbox or Audiobooks).
 • Maybe mis-tagged somehow and you simply can't find them.
 • Maybe you have a filter activated that is preventing them from being displayed.

I think the next step (which will check all these) would be to use the Computer node (this is basically a folder browser tool found in the Navigator Panel) to navigate to one of these files. The right-click context menu contains a 'Send To' sub-menu which looks a little like this:

The four entries highlighted are the four nodes of MusicBee where the file might reside. If any one of them is greyed out then that is where the file is located. You can click on Music Library to send it there if that is what you want.

If none of these options are greyed out (as in the image here) then the file is not in your library and I/we will have to think again.

If the Music Library option is greyed out, then the file is already in your library and you can use the Search > Locate In Library option from the same right-click context menu to find it.

Only M is greyed out. Despite files showing as being in folder linked to M, when I scan for new files comes up no new files added. To make things more confusing, I managed to peservere and add files using add files to library. All was showing ok yet however, when I close  M and open again files are not in library. Can't do a search if files are not in library. A simple process but very frustrating.

Talking about things that are frustrating:
What the f is 'M' ?
Why not use proper language making it easy for people trying to help you to understand what you are trying to say?

Only M[usicbee] is greyed out.
Don't know what you are talking about here.

Referring to the image in my previous post, are any of the four highlighted menu entries (Music Library, Podcasts, Audiobooks or Inbox) greyed out for you?
If any of these are greyed out then the file is in your library already.

Yes music library is greyed out when you highlight a song that is in the library. Seems like an action is stopping files from linked folder to libray. All the files in question are definitely in the linked drive/folder. I have added more files since this problem started and they scanned and added fine.

I feel that I must not be explaining things very well so I will have another go:

I am suggesting that you should:
 • Use the MusicBee Computer Node (available in the left sidebar Navigator Panel) - if you do not know how to find/use this then let us know.
 • Locate one of these files that you believe is not being added to your library.
 • Right-click > Send To
 • Check to see if one of these options is greyed out (& maybe post an image).

I gather you are referring to going to Edit, Edit Preferences and then checking Computer box in Left Sidebar ..Navigator.? See screenshot.

Here is your screenshot (you need to include the file extension for it to be displayed embedded):

This is where you would enable/disable the Computer node (and Inbox, Audiobooks, Radio etc.) - you seem to have disabled pretty much everything but the computer node is checked.

Anyway, back to the main panel, if you click on the '+' in the tabs bar to create a new tab you should see the navigator panel pop open on the left, something like this:

Here you can now see the 'Computer' node where you can navigate to your 'missing' files and right-click > Send To ...
