The Search submenu is always changing for some reason. One of the biggest offenders is the "Find title" submenu. It's only there ~ 10% of the time. What's the logic? I want it there always. I want all the possible submenu entries there always. Instead, all I get usually (!) is Find Artist and Find Similar (whatever "similar" means - which is also problematic BTW due to the extreme vagueness).

The Search submenu ...
I am going to assume that you are referring to the right-click > Search menu (rather than the search box in the title bar).

The options presented here will firstly depend on which view you are using.
I am now going to assume that you are using either the 'Tracks' or 'Album and Tracks (detailed list)' view as these provide the most varied options in this respect.

The search options provided will depend on which column you right-click on and I believe that this is what you will see:
• 'Find Artist', 'Find Similar' and 'Find Album' - always displayed (as long as they are tagged).
• 'Find Other Artists' - displayed if there are multiple artists tagged.
• The other option displayed will depend upon which column you right-click in: if you right-click in the 'Title' column you will see the 'Find Title' option, if you right-click in the 'Genre' column you will see the 'Find Genre' option etc.

Note that if you are using 'Albums', 'Artists' or 'Album and Tracks (compact grid)' view then the options displayed are fixed.

I'm not sure about this bit but I think that the 'Find Similar option is based on LastFM similar artists algorithm, which uses a combination of user listening habits and tags to determine which artists are classed as 'similar' (or something along those lines).

(I think this post probably belongs in questions as I don't see a bug)

Find Similar (whatever "similar" means - which is also problematic BTW due to the extreme vagueness).
I think this uses an online service like last.fm to find artists that sound similar to the searched artist.
Bee excellent to each other...

You're right, rereading my own post, I should've been more specific about what I mean by search, where I'm performing the search, etc. Your assumption is correct, I am referring to the right-click > Search menu.
The options presented here will firstly depend on which view you are using.

Holy hell that was not obvious at all but thank you for enlightening me. Thing is, I'm actually searching from the "playing tracks" panel. You're totally right: if I right-click specifically over the (fairly small) title text, "Find title" is always there. Since left-clicking anywhere on the track highlights the whole entry (title, genre, artist, etc.), I assumed it doesn't matter where inside the entry I click.

(As a sidenote, this might honestly be a case of the XY problem. I dragged a bunch of files from outside my usual music library into the playing tracks queue and wanted to listen through them. I already have some of the tracks in my library, so I wanted a quick way to check whenever I hear something familiar)

I thought it was a bug because the "Find title" option appearing as an entry seemed entirely random. After your guidance I now understand it's not random and why it seemed that way. So, while not really a bug, I still think search options shouldn't depend on where inside an individual entry you click when the entry gets treated as a singular bit in the UI (e.g. highlighted upon left click).
At the very least I think something as basic as "Find title" should always be shown, just like "Find artist."

Just as an option you could use Search > Locate in Library for this.
