I have a lot of old music files with embedded cover art, but when I transfer them to my phone, the artwork doesn’t display. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the "Picture Type" tag is missing. When I manually set it to "Album Cover," the artwork shows up correctly.

The Problem:
Since I have a large collection of music, manually updating each file isn’t practical.

My Question:
Is there an easy way to batch-update or automatically fix the "Picture Type" tag for all my music files in MusicBee?

Current state:

I think something else is going on. If the artwork is embedded in the file, there should be no need to specify what type of art it is. If the file successfully syncs to the device, and the artwork is truly embedded, the artwork is there in the file.

BTW, "Picture Type" is not a tag. It is only a designation of what the artwork is.

Perhaps posting a screenshot of your device settings for artwork storage may help.

Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

I'm using Foobar2000 on my mobile phone, and I’ve noticed the same issue. Sometimes, when converting files with fre:ac, the embedded image gets removed.

Here’s the link to Foobar2000 Mobile for reference:

The cover art in my files was embedded many years ago, some possibly even back in the '90s, so that might be a factor as well.

Is there a way to batch re-embed the cover art? Maybe a tool or script that can do this efficiently?

try ticking "embed artwork in music file" and "resize artwork to" will force the synched file to have the artwork rewritten. Not sure off the top of my head whether the picture type would get set though, so try with a subset of files

The link to Foobar tells us nothing.

Please post a screenshot of the settings I asked for previously.

And try what Steven suggested.
