From the wiki:

> Every static playlist has an official track order, called its "natural order" or "playlist order", which by default is the order in which you added the tracks. When tracks are dragged to or sent to a playlist, they are always added to the end of Playlist Order. You can see the order if the # column is displayed in the main panel. Shuffling or sorting tracks will not change the natural order.
> If it is not in order, you can choose "Update Play Order" in the List menu and it will be renumbered to match the current order.

Most of my playlists are sorted by date. While it does display the playlist entries in the order I expect within Musicbee, the real ("natural") play order is different. This is reflected when exporting the playlist to m3u or when syncing it do a different device.

This has an unfortunate consequence for me: Every now and then I sync my library to my phone, only to find out hours later that the order of every playlist is all wrong. I have to wait until I get home, select List->Update Play Order for every playlist, then sync again. Only then will the playlists on my phone be in the same order as displayed in MusicBee.

I propose a checkbox "automatically update play order" in the playlist settings, which would automatically do that whenever the playlist is modified. This would also mean that the static exported m3u playlists would be kept in the same order as they are displayed in musicbee.

While I'm not sure that this will affect me directly, I think one might reasonably expect a playlist to be exported in the same order that it plays in MusicBee.

I created a plugin for this: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=42483.0

Unfortunately there was no way to add this as a checkbox in the playlist settings or context menu. Each playlist needs to be manually added to the table in the configuration window, where you also have to specify the sort order. If you change the name of the playlist or the way it's sorted you'd have to make the same changes manually in the config.

Still hoping for an official solution!

+1 (I think)

I use Auto-playlists to create randomly shuffled playlists matching certain criteria (certain ratings & genres). These get copied to a Lyrion \ LMS server and played on squeezeboxes around my house.

So I refresh them every couple of weeks by editing them with "automatically refresh the matching tracks". But I only just realised my confusion with them is because "automatically export a static copy" changes the track order from what I see in MusicBee.

However, I've just found out that if I manually export the playlist by right clicking it, the track order in the m3u file does match the playlist order in MusicBee, so at least I can get there in two steps, but with 30 playlists it's a chore.
