I found a small error.

When you run an ASX track and try to edit the original file, it is not possible as it gives the error: the file is in use in another process.

It's no big deal just switch to another track and the changes on the original track you wanted to edit are allowed.

In practice, it is not possible to edit the original tracks of an asx file when the latter is playing.

Obviously not a bug, you said it yourself,

"In practice, it is not possible to edit the original tracks of an asx file when the latter is playing."

Which makes perfect sense... at least to me.

Raising this in the wishlist section seems more appropriate.

You could request that they be handled similar to how other tracks are handled.
(whilst the track is playing, I believe the edits are cached somewhere in the database and then only updated in the file when it is no longer in use)

Edit:
It's no big deal just switch to another track and the changes on the original track you wanted to edit are allowed.
If this means exactly what I mentioned above (that changes are saved after the track is played),
then I suppose the only request you are asking for here is for the error to be suppressed?

In my opinion it is a mistake.

Because when you make changes a running mp3 track doesn't give an error but it is modified.

When an AXS is running you cannot edit the original, Why?

You are not going to edit the digital data of the file but simply the tags which in any case are practically different except (maybe) for the title and author.

The track is not modified after playback. But you have to stop the playback, have another track play and then make the change to the original mp3 and only then is it accepted.

The error is right to come (at least for now) because in any case the edit does not start.

It's not a mistake from my perspective, you're actively trying to modify a file that's being referenced.

It's the same principle as two people trying to modify the same document at the same time.

Yes, -visually- it appears to be updated, but (if I'm not mistaken) the changes aren't saved to disk until the track is no longer playing. This is true when adding/editing lyrics to a playing song. The changes display immediately, but the file isn't updated until the track is no longer playing.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

That's right. You are right!!!
I did some testing and actually the saving only happens when you switch to another track or close the application.
Probably this case was not considered with asx files.
I have a lot of asx in a lot of compilations and unfortunately I often get this error, because this is an error, the program tries the modication of a file but cannot and therefore gives an error.
I don't understand why the discussion was moved to questions.
It is not a question but an error displayed by the software and that could be corrected.
Then if few people use asx OK there it is, but still error remains.

In that case you should find the error in the Error Log (Help > Support > View Error Log) and copy/paste it here. Or post a screenshot of the error.

I use ASX files and don't consider this an issue.

Edited to correct quote.

any file can be edited only if is played inside MB.
i don't  know why. probably because MB knows when file is unblocked when it is stopped.

I didn't even have to go crazy to get it.
I'll translate the error which is in Italian: unable to access the file. The file is being used by another process.

Why don't you consider it a problem?
It's not a big problem for me either, once I figure out how to get around the error.
But in software there should be no error, I just pointed out what happens.
