This is a preview of a skin I started working on last night which is near ready.
I just need to add a few touchups, then I will post a download link, but here's a sneak peek so long.

This skin will go hand-in-hand with another plugin that I'm currently developing that will convert all cached artwork to grayscale.
Artwork not cached like artist pictures and album covers on the Track Info panel & "more albums" section of the Music Explorer will remain coloured.

The rounded artwork is not enforced - you will only see this if you install the plugin of the same name released yesterday.
This skin is inspired by redwing's Gray (slim) and of course, the Bat of Gotham.

The download link has been posted above to complete the trilogy.
See below for the standalone prequels:  Oblivion (2022)  and  Lunar Eclipse (2022)

A few comments after testing it (without plugin Greyscale Artwork however)...
  • Despite the overwhelming presence of grey tones, the beautiful design of Oblivion and Lunar Eclipse works well too.
  • The rounded artworks give it a soft touch.
  • It's probably a matter of personal taste, but since there are no colours to differentiate GUI elements, I would make column headers stand out more by using a different background shade for them. For example, the headers of the column browser, especially when it's placed vertically. But that's just an idea for future experiments.
  • A small flaw: unlike in Oblivion and Lunar Eclipse, the time display for the current track (top or bottom panel) has a variable font size which follows the size of the custom font set in Layout (1) -> top panel. I had to set it to Segoe UI 10 or smaller, otherwise the time display is truncated. But then, the track title in the top panel is too small.
My current global settings, if it can help:
    - 1920x1080
    - Windows scaling 100%
    - main MB font: Open Sans 14 (whose metrics are close to Segoe UI).
  • This being said, I'm not a fan of grey or deep dark skins: with the dreariness of our automnal Belgian skies, I'm in dire need of colours.  :) But there's obviously a trend towards dark GUI themes among users.

Thank you for the comments, karbock.
I will admit that as I was putting it together, my liking for this skin, on a horizontal scale, kept on moving around like one of BoringName's VU meters.
One moment, I'd be happy with the look and the next I'd feel it was too dull. My eyes sure had to do some adjusting but I now prefer it as my main.

That I can look into doing for sure - I've had to brighten some dark elements to compensate for the lack of colour disparity (context to save the day).
You mean headers like 'album' here, right?

I will investigate this closely. But it shouldn't be any different to the behaviour in the other two because everything was a basic copy & paste without alterations to this effect.

Exactly.

But see below: even your fellow citizens are playing tricks on you. :)

Same settings for the 3 of course, being:
- Open Sans 14pt as main MB font,
- no custom font specified for the top panel -> Open Sans 15pt chosen by MB
