I was thinking of buying one of the new window phones and was wondering if anyone know if they will sync with musicbee?

I doubt that this would be possible. Miceosoft forces you  to use Zune in the same way Apple does with iTunes.

I am contemplating of buying a windows phone device myself when nokia releases a device. I remember reading that there was a "hacky" way to enable mass storage mode for wp7 devices.

You will still need to have Zune installed. The article is quite old and I am not really sure it will still apply to the upcoming Mango update, but I would expect another "hacky" solution for that too
