Author Topic: Synchronisation failed - but I got a 'Folder Cleanup - Completed'  (Read 1365 times)

Hi,

Every time I sync, I get an error saying the Sync failed. But in the dialog box, it shows that most files were copied and the 'folder cleanup' was completed. There is at least one file that did not copy (can see in the attachment), but I am not sure what the deal is. Seems files have copied over.

Attached is the screenshot.

I don't know how to upload my log.dat file.

I am on Xiaomi 14T Pro and using JetAudio as my player on my phone. Syncing a Playlist of about 800 songs.

You got the sync failed message in the status bar because the sync was not 100% successful as shown by the one file that did not copy over. What's missing is what the rest of the text is for the file that shows "Copy failed - Acc...". I'm going to guess that it shows "Access Denied" but it would helpful to know the complete text so we can try to solve your issue.

Go to Help > Support > View Error Log and copy the section starting with the date/time of when the error occurred and paste it in to a reply here.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Hi, Here is the Sync log text. I also went back a few syncs, as I was getting an HRESULT error previously. Might as well cover the issues.

Using the search link in my signature below, look for HRESULT. There will be a number of hits. I remembering suffering from that error many years ago, but can't recall how, when, or why it stopped. I'm thinking Steven issued a fix, but I can't be certain. Which leads to a couple of questions:
- What version of MB are you using? (Help > About) INCLUDE THE LETTER (if any) AFTER THE NUMBER
- How was MB installed? (Store, Installer, Portable)

- When syncing are you doing any on-the-fly file conversion?
- Please post a screenshot of your device settings for syncing. You may need two screenshots to show everything.

Version 3.5.8698. FYI, I recently completely uninstalled and reinstalled with the new version but chose 3.5 because I felt 3.6 might still be a bit 'new'.

I downloaded the latest version directly from the website.

The only setting I have set that I am aware of that might affect the sync is to embed artwork. My original upload and editing of any file I do is done through iTunes with my master library on an external drive before I even sync to MusicBee. Once done, I open MusicBee to scan/import the files and access that library directly. Maybe I don't need to 'embed the artwork' as iTunes initially handles it?

It's quite possible your issue has been resolved in 3.6. Which has been in use since October of 2023. So I strongly suggest applying the patch update available from my signature below. Once you're on 3.6 test your sync again. I'm willing to bet the issue is gone.

Thanks for the screenshot. Unfortunately nothing jumps out at me as none of the settings look like they can cause the error.

Does the Billie Eilish play properly in MB?

Hi, Thanks again for the follow-up and direction. I hope you don't mind a bit of ongoing issues.

Yes, I updated to 3.6. by doing a full install (no patch). My Windows 11/security software (I'm not sure which) blocked the patch, so I downloaded the 3.6 full install and ran it.

In the middle of this process, I decided to pull my external hard drive off the router where it was connected and plugged it into the hub for my laptop, which made the access more direct. On the router I was having network connection issues with the drive, as it seemed to be timing out/disconnected (USB powered off?) occasionally, and I was unable to solve it with settings.

As I was starting a big update, I deleted my old libraries and rescanned my entire music library on the new drive location. I got to around 30,000 tracks out of 40,000, and it kept hanging up on a Killers album. I tried several times with the same results, then deleted the album from the drive and successfully completed the library scan.

However, I seem to have NO files showing in my 'MUSICBEE LIBRARY,' but everything is showing/playing in MUSIC EXPLORER, including the Billie Eilish song.  I have created a playlist of about 800 songs that perfectly syncs to my phone.

So I guess the last thing I need to understand is why the new 'Musicbee Library' I created is not showing.
