Hi folks - slightly 'off topic' but hoping someone in here might know the answer

Just got my hiby m300 all loaded up with music using music bee on my desktop to organise files, make playlists etc etc

But im getting no joy on syncing via USB or getting playlists to be read by the m300.
For playlists, Ive set MB to change file paths to what the m300 shows is the path to the music folder, ive tried relative paths, forward and back slashes - nothing (i can import playlists but they are empty).
Sync ive only just started to play with - but it just scans the device, starts copying then gives a "Copy Failed - The requested value cannot be determined" error message.

Does anyone know how to get syncing and playlists to function in this instance?

This seems more like a question for a hiby forum / customer support.

Have you searched the forum? Using the link in my signature below, searching for "hiby" I got at least 12 hits. One or more of them may be helpful.

What version of MB are you using? (Help > About) INCLUDE THE LETTER (if any) AFTER THE NUMBER
How was MB installed? (Store, Installer, Portable)
Are you trying to sync the files in a format the device can read?
Are you trying to sync the playlists in a format the device can read?
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Hi - cheers for responding. Apologies, as I know this is a little unrelated.
I did try a search - But the problem is really that the m300 has only just been released, android 13. So a lot of the walk throughs ive read for other models dont seem to match what im seeing on my end.
There was an android 13 and wifi topic here - but im not using wifi on my desktop.
Im trying to get hiby customer support. But they are really bad at responding it seems. Might have to try their USA number instead

On the MB side - its a portable install, version 3.5.8698 P
And yes - all music files are readable (i did a manual copy to the SD card and that works fine), and the playlists are .m3u format (the device can load the playlists, but show 0 tracks)

The version you're using is more than a year old. There have been many updates and enhancements since then. I strongly suggest applying the 3.6 patch version available from my signature below. Then try again.

I think the bottom line is that Google changed a lot of things in Android 12+ and that may be the root of your issue.

Hi and welcome! I have the M300 myself, but I can't be helpful because I only copy and paste to two HiBys, my phone, and a Surface's SD card regularly, because syncing is impractical or worst --including because I keep separate and different playlists on each device.

I will only suggest an active forum that MAY be helpful, although this thread is quite device-specific and don't recall seeing MusicBee questions or postings: There may in fact be more appropriate and helpful threads at this site also.

You may want to drill down here as well:

By the by, the M300 has been out for a year already and I've been happy with mine for about half of that. Good luck satisfying your syncing requirements.

Alright, so I'm in the middle of assessing this exact same issue rn.

First thing, blackplayer ex and jetaudio+ both read m3u playlists synced from mbee with either absolute or relative playlists.

I made a playlist with one song in the hiby player app and exported them. Hiby gives you two options, relative and absolute.

This is what the hiby exported playlists look like viewed in notepad.exe

Ab:
/storage/39EC-8000/Music/Lucky Ali/Lucky Ali - A Journey Through Music/Lucky Ali - Aa Bhi Ja Aa Bhi Ja.mp3

Re:
../../../Music/Lucky Ali/Lucky Ali - A Journey Through Music/Lucky Ali - Aa Bhi Ja Aa Bhi Ja.mp3

Standard relative playlist in mbee looks like:

../Music/Lucky Ali/Lucky Ali - A Journey Through Music/Lucky Ali - Aa Bhi Ja Aa Bhi Ja.mp3

Now with devices that mount with a drive letter, c:\ etc, mbee gives the option to set the prefix for the file paths in the playlists, like with my HibyR3Pro:

For mtp devices, this is not the case.

As such, the HiBy app has an option under scan music to import m3u files into HiBy proprietary database. The m3u files must be relative file paths.

This method works when it wants to and is inconsistent at best.

If we could set the prefix for tracks in the playlist, even on mtp devices, that would solve this issue to a large degree. You would however still need to reimport the playlists everytime you updated something.

Jetaudio uses the standard android database thankfully, and Blackplayer EX lets you switch to the android database for your music library.

However, not being able to use the hiby app with all its features in a bit of a bummer.

The Sony Walkman, its music processing is a separate app from the walkman app thankfully. That app doesn't even have a sleep timer... So i had to use Blackplayer there.

It seems like every dap you buy has some stupid quirk. At some point, just buying a midrange phone with an sd card slot and plugging in an outboard dac/amp is going to be your best option.
