It is possible to modify existing foobar2000 and AIMP VU meter skins so that their colouring matches the skin that you want to use it for.
(for AIMP skins it is very easy to do, for foobar2000 skins it's more complicated)

I thought it would be a good idea to have a topic where users can publish and share their modifications of existing VU meter skins.

1.
If you name and publish such a modification, it is good practice to name the original VU meter first, followed by the name of the skin you modified it for (or add a description of your choosing), and the word 'mod'.
e.g. something like: Night Bars (DarkRED mod)

Adding 'mod' is important, since that will make it clear that it is a modification of an original creation, and it was not created or released by the original creator of the VU meter.

2.
Always add a (not too large!) screenshot, and credit the creator of the original VU meter skin.
For preview images limit the width of the image to somewhere around 300 pixels.

Enjoy!

Excellent idea.  I would add that the contributions should have already been tested and working with mb_VUMeter.dll, and include some notes as to the accuracy/performance here, hopefully with a download link to a host like OneDrive, DropBox, MediaFire, etc.

Yeah, a working download link would be essential. But since MusicBee's forum website does not have its own storage option for files like these, there will be no guarantee whatsoever that these download links will remain active for a longer and certain amount of time. (my links won't live forever either)
So it would be good if users that are enjoying and are interested in this VU meter stuff store copies of published VU meter skins, just in case the download links cease to be.

A blatant ripoff of hiccup's ripoff of a SPL Mk2 skin for MB's VU Meter plugin.
This has been modified to match the colors of my Phred on the Lookout skin.

Enjoy.

Ernest Turner model 702

A pretty well-known VU meter for two reasons:

1. Many will know it as the VU meter that was included in the very first foobar2000 VU meter plugin.

2.  It's the VU meter that was used in the iconic EMI TG-12345 recording console which was used in the Abbey Road Studios to record legendary albums such as Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and The Beatles' 'Abbey Road'.

available versions:

Ernest Turner model 702 MusicBee3

A mod, build from scratch, with a different scale and tweaked LED/needle action.

From the AIMP "LVU" collection I can recommend the "Telefunken" skin…
Thanks for testing and sharing that sveakul, that looks nice.

But it would be better to keep this topic on-point, meaning only posting skins that were modified to make them work well in MusicBee or to fit a MusicBee skin.
Perhaps you could create a new topic for these kind of ideas/suggestions/requests?

updates for:

- Accuphase A-47 (previously A-46)
- Ernest Turner Model 702 (a new dB scale)
- Hartmann & Braun (additional colour variations added)

Also, they all had their curves checked and improved,  and are now accompanied by a settings file so that they will display as intended immediately without the need for making any adjustments to the plugin's option settings menu.

The first meters specifically designed for VUMeter 2.2's *.ini system--NICE!

All my VU meters have been updated.
They have been optimised for the improved needle action that VUMeter v2.6.2 brings.
(and they are now all compressed using LZMA)

Make sure to check 'Use Skin Defaults' in the plugin.
