Hello!
Make a long story short, I have used iTunes for like 20 years and finally finally wanna migrate. Heard nothing but good things from musicbee.
I have played the portable installation on my (local) NAS drive where I also have my iTunes library.

But:
When I start the program and get to the initial installation, it asks me this: check "import tracks and artwork from iTunes" but also there is the option to select a directory manually. Do I check BOTH or just the iTunes one? I want to have everything mirrored/imported from iTunes as much as possible, Covers, ratings, playcounts etc.

Another thing that makes me wonder if I am doing everything right: It scans for the files...around 31 000 I got. Initially, it gets to like 9000 pretty fast but ever since then, it is just like 5 files every 10 seconds or so... this is gonna take ages. Is this really correct? Why is it taking that long? The files are on a locally connected drive that is pretty fast.

Also, ultimately I wanna move the files to a new Music Bee folder from the iTunes one (but on the same drive), but I heard you can move those later on?
Anyway, I am just not sure if this initial setup is going well. I want to migrate but I am careful with my library I have care for for 20 years, I don't want anything to get messed up in this initial step!!
Thanks for the help.

MusicBee won't move anything on you with default settings, but when you get to that point definitely be careful and do a little bit at a time until you're sure it's working as expected.

For iTunes, make sure you have the XML file because that's what transfers info to MusicBee. I would start by doing the iTunes transfer by itself. You can always re-scan directly later to make sure everything got added.

As for speed, that may be too particular to your system for us to help with. The initial scan is usually slowest though. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Update by the way, I left it running and by my estimate it would have taken many many many hours but I came back to check early and it was done... I guess it was one of those things were the estimate was way off.

Originally, the play counts and playlists weren't synced after the initial import from iTunes, but going to the drop down and selecting import from iTunes again, it worked and updated it.
I'll try move the files now soon.

Is it normal I had to do these "two steps", I was surprised the initial import found all the files but not all the info like playcounts nor any playlists. I mean it worked, but it seemed weird I kinda had to do it twice (though the second step was very quick, assumingly because it had already scanned all the files in the initial import).
