When playing a playlist and go to another tab to play another playlist for a while then go back to previous tab playlist I listened to, it always starts back to first track in that list. Is there a way that switching between playlists/tabs that it continues from the last track played of a playlist?  I hope that made sense.

Try the setting:

Preferences > Now Playing (playback section) > start playlist from the last track played

I tried this but it did not work. I saved and restarted MB, but did not work. Try opening two playlists(tabs) then play a track by scrolling down and select it. Now put it on pause then open the other tab that is a different playlist and select a song and play it. Now pause that and go back to the first playlist and play it, does it continue from the last song played for this list? If it does for you I still am doing something wrong.
If I am playing a playlist and shut it down then next day open it up and play it, it does continue from last track played as it has done over the years. Now I have two playlists open in it's own tab then play for a while of one playlist then switch over to the other tab and play it for a while. Then when I switch back to the first tab(playlist) and want to play it it it goes back to the top of the list not from the last track that was played.

This is hard to explain all that I do but I will try.
Playing one playlist and I pause it then go to the other playlist(tab) then start that playlist is by double clicking the highlighted track being the last one played. Then when that track is done the next track played goes back to the other playlist(tab) and continues from where it was left off.  If I start the playlist from the main play button for the playlist it always goes back to the beginning of the playlist then the next track played does continue in the selected playlist(tab) not switching playlists. The thing is I want to be able to change playlist(tab)  and continue it from where it was last left but I can't figure out how to. To press the play button for the track at bottom when switching to a different playlist it continues playing the one from the last playlist(tab) I switched from.
I tried two playlists(tabs) and a radio(tab). I played tab 1, then played tab 2, then radio tab switched back to tab 1 and double clicked the last track, when that track was done it switched to tab 2 where it was last playing. Another weird thing is I closed tab 2, tab 1 and radio Tab still open, then played tab 1 when the track was done it played the next track of the closed tab 2 and continued this playlist. So I shut down MB then opened again, pressed the play of the track once it was done it played the closed tab 2 of earlier before the start/stop of MB which is weird should this playlist(tab 2) be closed not in the que for playing?
When I switch between tabs(playlists) the last track is highlighted but to continue I have to double click it but how to keep it playing in selected playlist?
Maybe you can try by opening three different playlists in tabs and play each switching between them and see what the next track played, does it switch to another of the three playlists(tab). Plus if you click the next track button it also will switch playlists and not stay on the present one unless it is the one it is defaulting to.
I am using skin Bee78 if that has any bearing on things. MB Version 3.5.8698
I have in preferences playback>start playlist from the last track played check. It does show the last track played for each playlist as it is highlighted when switching between tabs but to play it I have to double click it to play but it will switch playlists next track.

Could you post a screenshot of your Preferences > Now Playing settings.
There does seem to be an issue with this function with certain settings - I have noticed when the 'Play Now' action is set to 'queue selected tracks next and play now' the playlist position is not remembered - but it would be useful to see all your settings here.

Note that to play a playlist you should either:
  1. Double click on the playlist name (or right-click > play now)
or
  2. Press the play button in the playlist header,

Double clicking a particular track does not do the same thing.

Yes, to play the playlist is not the problem in the two options you posted. The problem is when the playlist has been played for a while then switch to another playlist and play it for a while then go back to the previous playlist how to continue from where you left off. If I press the play button on the playlist header it always goes back to the start of the playlist not from where it was previously stopped. If I double click the last tracked played it will and I know it is not the right way to do it but it will not continue to the next track of the playlist unless it was the only playlist(tab) open and I used the main play button on the header of this playlist. The thing is if I only listen to one playlist and not switch to others it works fine. So how to have each playlist when played remember the last track played for each playlist and how to continue from that point, what would be the proper play button to use. It needs a play button to continue without it going back to the start of the playlist. Maybe when playlist(tab) is switched that the track showing at the bottom switches to the last track of the playlist switched to then we just press that play button at the bottom.
I have three images MB step 1 played playlist jazz, step 2 opened country playlist and played for a bit image MB step 2, then went back to jazz step 3 image MB step three and at the bottom of the image you see the track does not change when switching playlist(tabs) so this needs to change to the track that was last played of the selected playlist then we can press the play button at the bottom to continue this playlist.

I hope I was able to show what is happening. Plus I hope the images went through I don't do this type of thing.

Thanks for the image - the last one was the one I wanted. (By the way, I do understand the issue you are seeing.)

I actually think there is a bug here but could you try this and confirm:
You currently have your 'Play Now action' set to 'queue selected tracks next and play now'. Could you select the option .'clear list and play selected tracks only' (and save).

Now go back to listening to your playlists and see if the position is remembered.

It is the same changing the play now action, I also closed/opened MB but it is the same. It has always remembered the last track for each playlist(tab) opened, the issue is when switching tabs(playlists) that are opened the track is remembered but how to continue playing from last position? In the images given you see at the bottom of the MB player the track is displayed but when you switch tabs the track at bottom should change to the track of the new tab(playlist) you switched to, then we would just press the play button. As it is now the track stays from the playlist(tab) switched from, so when you press the play button it continues from the other playlist that was switched away from.

I have it to work. I set the Now Playing preference 'Play Now Action:' to clear list and play all tracks. Then when changing tabs(playlists) I just press the play button at top of the playlist heading and it continues from where last left off. If another play button is pressed it will continue from the other playlist you switched from.
The option you had me try it worked but only played the one track that it last played and would not continue on. I have another screen grab of the settings.

Glad to hear you have got it working.
There is clearly some issues with the 'start playlist from the last track played' setting which seems to depend upon the 'Play Now' action setting. As and when I get some time to look at this properly I will (and report any bug identified).

In the meantime, could you let me know which version of MusicBee you are using (MusicBee menu > Help > About)
(I have been testing with MusicBee ver 3.6.8919 P)

For the issue when tabs(playlists) are changed the track of present playlist(tab) que up on the bottom panel and right panel because as it is now it does not it keeps the track of playlist switched from.

I have been listening and switching between playlists, there is still some issues it works sometimes but not always. I will leave it with you guys because it is a bit confusing to try and explain all what is happening. You know of an issue with this, so with your testing you will see the issues I am having.

It is working fine for me except when the Play Now action is set to 'queue selected tracks next and play now'.

For the issue when tabs(playlists) are changed the track of present playlist(tab) que up on the bottom panel and right panel because as it is now it does not it keeps the track of playlist switched from.
I'm not sure I quite understand this comment but I think this is the expected (and correct) behaviour - the 'bottom panel' (Player Control panel) and the 'right panel' (Track Information panel) will display the currently playing track and will not change simply because you select a different playlist in the main panel. It will change when you begin playback of a different track.

Yah, I I need to proof read before sending. One just has to remember when switching playlists, to use the play button at top, all other play buttons play from playlist you switched from. Thanks for your guidance in checking the right options in preferences.
