Author Topic: One song displays " ::: Tempo: 125.0" in the bottom panel. How to disable that?  (Read 617 times)

Hey, basically it looks like this:

Out of my 4000+ song library this is the only one that behaves like this. Ideally I would like to diagnose what's different about it. For starters, it's the only song that has a "Remove Cuesheet" option in the context menu (however, clicking that does nothing; the option doesn't disappear either). I've never worked with cuesheets but I can't see any .cue file in my music folders to manually delete either.

Does anyone have an idea how to:
a) fix the song so that it's in line with the rest (probably by locating the cuesheet somehow)
or
b) prevent the tempo from displaying in the bottom panel?

As a side note, my tempo and BPM tags in Musicbee are empty, but when I change their value it doesn't affect the display in the bottom panel. It's also like this in the "Track Information" panel, where my settings are to just display "Artist - Title". So I think it's somehow connected with the "Title" tag. Help would be much appreciated!

The player bar will display the tags as defined in Preferences > Now playing > Playback > Scroll in player as:
So the first thing to do is check the file for those tags.

It's just <Artist> - <Title>. So I think it somehow embedded itself in the title, even though in the tag editor and in the main panel it looks fine.

Open the tag editor and look in the Tag Inspector tab
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Then it is probably related to MusicBee assuming there is a cuesheet attached to that file.
What is the file format, and does the Tag Inspector show an entry for something like 'cuesheet'?

I fixed it by redownloading the song in WAV and then converting it to MP3 through Musicbee. So it's all good now and thank you for your help but I would still like to understand what the issue could have been.

Open the tag editor and look in the Tag Inspector tab
I did when I was looking up cuesheet removal. There was no "cuesheet" tag, and the title tag displayed the normal song, without the tempo in both ID3v1 and ID3v2. Where I noticed the difference was the absence of an ISRC tag in the new, working version. However, deleting it in the old one doesn't change the weird title display.

Then it is probably related to MusicBee assuming there is a cuesheet attached to that file.

MP3 and no

Just in case the developer of MusicBee is curious about this, could you keep the 'problematic' file for a while?

some background:
I have been interested in cuesheets lately, and mp3 files seem to have their own way of dealing with those.
(MusicBee now allows for adding cuesheets to e.g. FLAC files, but it fails to do that for mp3's)
So your experience with this particular file might be helpful in finding out the possible problem with this.

Sure. I've already deleted it a couple of times while testing but it's like this when downloaded from the label's website (although it's not in a recent re-release in another album). Maybe I'll also reach out to them. Interestingly, the title displays normally outside of Musicbee (such as in WMP or the new Windows music app) and in most Musicbee functionality (such as virtual tags or renaming files).

Thnx.
Hm, that's odd indeed. There is no tag for a cuesheet, nor any tag having this 'tempo' info.
So I guess that MusicBee is retrieving this 'tempo' info from something that is embedded in the header of the file that is not available as a regular tag.
(this weekend I will run the file through HxD to see if I can understand what is going on)

If you want some more confusion, I deleted the "ISRC" tag and now it's "Tempo: 125.0"  🙃 Earlier I said it doesn't affect it but I think something didn't save that time.
Nevermind, I'm stupid. 125 was the original value. Anyway, I emailed the label about it so I'll let you know if they say anything.

the track probably has a "CHAP" tag which is a structure for chapters. It wont show in the tag inspector.
If you update to the latest patch version, right click/ Remove Cuesheet should remove it

I updated to the 3_5_8698 patch but it's still not possible to remove the cuesheet. Or is there a newer patch?

.8698 is from last October. Current should be at least .8821.
You can get the latest patch from my sig below.

My bad, I took that one from the Updates post somewhere. I have 3.6.8849 now but still can't remove the cuesheet.
