In  skin.xml you can make adjustments for the buffering indicator, e.g.:

<bufferingMargin top="3" bottom="3" left="6" right="6"

The top and bottom attributes are working fine, but it seems that left and right are not functioning at all?
(tested with a couple of my skins)

A very minor issue, but when aiming for perfection...

Going off memory, I can recall seeing this behaviour or its lack thereof, when I last played with skins (must be some 2yrs ago now).
I suppose the rationale at the time of implementation was that progress bars are generally linear.
As such, buffering margins would best be effective when horizontally aligned with the progress bars.

But yes:
