Just days ago, I installed MB 3,5,8698 on a new computer and was able to rip CDs to replace lost files without any difficulty. The correct menus popped up and functioned as they are supposed to.

However, less than a week later, any attempt to rip a CD - any CD- results in a momentary popup of the Rip CD menu, followed within seconds with the program shutting completely.

Any ideas about what is happening and how to fix it? No preferences or setting were changed in the interim between rip attempts.

Make sure some auto-start setting in Windows didn't get changed by a Windows update, or some other application you installed in the interim isn't messing with control over CD playback.

Take a look at the Error Log (Help > Support > View Error Log) and if there is an entry around the time of the shutdown copy it and paste it here.

Also, what happens if you try to -play- a CD that has caused a shutdown when attempting to rip? Does it play?
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

I have had MusicBee for some time and have recently got back to ripping CD's into the library. All was fine for a few days and then the ripping stopped working. No error message -- just some initial whirring sounds from the external CD/DVD player and then nothing. I have the latest MB version (just overwrote the files this evening with a fresh version). Playback of multiple CDs are not affected -- just can't rip. I tested the external CD/DVD on another laptop and was able to rip to that computer. I am out of ideas ...
