Hi,

In the Music Explorer tab:

In the Filter Panel (column on the left), the displayed entries are "by Artist", sorted by name, no grouping, "Show Thumbnails" on.
In the Artist Information panel (center panel), sort Albums by Year, descending.

Now I would like to understand (and, to control...) how the album thumbnail displayed in the Filter Panel is chosen, when they are several albums for an artist.
Because the results is not consistent and I don't understand why.

E.g.

OR

NB: The "(Singles)" albums are singles I gather in an album without a year tag set. My goal is to avoid this album to be chosen as the album in the thumbnail in the Filter Panel if they are other albums for an artist.

Thanks.

Check if it is not displayed based on one of the following:

- album first added to MusicBee
- album with the most tracks

Linked below is a related question that I also couldn't find an exact answer for (had done multiple tests at the time to no avail):
If someone can take a look as well there and figure it out, that would be appreciated.

This is certainly confusing - here's my theory (but no guarantees):

The cover displayed in the Thumbnail Browser will be the first displayed in the main panel using the chosen sort order - this is borne out by the artist Babylon Circus in your screenshot.
However it appears that if track 1 is missing from an album then that cover is skipped (at least in my limited testing).

If this theory is valid it would suggest that you have a lot of Aretha Franklin albums with track 1 missing - is this true?
(Of course there maybe an additional complicating factor involved.)

Edit:
Scrub that - I just realised you were referring to the Music Explorer and I was testing with the Music Node. Oh well, back to square one.

Edit 2:
For the Music Explorer it does appear to be the album first added to MusicBee (although I am sure that I have at least one artist for which this is not true so I can't be certain).
I don't think there is anyway to control/change which album cover is used.

The ordering essentially random (after sorting by the thumbnail browser filter criteria) and doesnt mirror the sorting in the main panel.
