I have installed Musicbee onto my desktop pc.  I want to also set up Musicbee on my laptop.  Is it possible to synchronise my library on the desktop pc with the library on the laptop?

Can you explain what you mean in step 3. Share the folder(s) with your music files on the network.

Your music files are in a folder (like C:\Music).  That folder (and all subfolders by extension) will need to be shared over the network so both computers can access the files.

So if the files are on your Desktop computer called DESKTOP on the network in C:\Music which you share as MUSIC, the files will be referenced in MB in the style of \\DESKTOP\MUSIC\songfile.flac rather than C:\Music\songfile.flac

Can you explain what you mean in step 7:
7. Create your library in the folder you created in step 2 USING THE NETWORK ADDRESS NOT THE LOCAL ADDRESS.

Does it mean to go into the preferences and click on library tab, then click on move library button and then select the MusicLibrary folder that I created in step 2?

Do you have an existing library to move?  If so, then yes.  The library needs to be in a shared network folder.   It doesn't need to actually move if the folder where it is located is shared on the network.  You can just "move" it from using the local reference (eg. C:\Musicbeelibrary\MusicBeeLibrary.mbl to \\DESKTOP\Musicbeelibrary\MusicBeeLibrary.mbl).

If not, I'm not sure what you'd use move library on, so I'm guessing you already do.  If so, then creating a new folder in step 2 was unnecessary.  The guide assumes a fresh setup, not an existing one.

The main takeaway for all of it is that everything - your music files, your library folder and files, the location in preferences for playlists, artist pictures and soundtrack pictures, the links for any external programs, and the program itself must be called from their network address at all times for this to work without difficulty.

I do have an existing library which I used for the non portable version of Musicbee.  Where is the default location for the library?  I can't see the location anywhere in preferences.

On my c drive there is only a Musicbee folder where all the program files are.  There isn't a MusicLibrary folder on c drive that i can see; there also isn't a MusicBeeLibrary.mbl file anywhere.  Shall i use the non portable Musicbee app to move the music library to the network folder that i created in step 2?  After it has been moved, will the library work when i try and use it from the portable version of Musicbee app?

the "eg." in my example above indicates that it is an example folder and file name. These will be as you set them when you started your current music library.  Obviously, if you have been using Musicbee, you have a library folder and a *.mbl library database file within it.  I have no way to know what those are.  You can see your currently open library by going to File->Library->Open Library.  It will have a check mark next to it.

If you already have a music library with history and data, yes you should either move it to the shared folder you created or share the folder where it currently exists and "move" the reference from local to network based.

The library will work in whatever version of musicbee you use to open it.

I just moved the library from the Musicbee app and can now access everything on my other computer by using the Musicbee portable app.  Thanks for your help.
