Hi,

Context: I want to only move the library folder to a new drive (from D:\ to E:\), while also changing the path names that lead to the library folder from "D:\Music\MB Library" to "E:\MusicBee\MusicBee Library". The music files are staying in the same location.

When I do what I mentioned in the context above, MusicBee now assumes that the path to all the music files is "E:\MusicBee\Music\[FOLDERNAME]\[MUSICFILENAME]"

MusicBee becomes unresponsive everytime I want to relink music file paths when I click "Relink Music File Paths" to point it towards the same folder it looked at before changing the library folder path names & location.

Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated

Thank you

You say you want to "move the library folder."  Relink Music File Paths is not a way to move files or folders.  It is a way to let MB know that files it expects to find in one place have already been moved to another place.

Have you already moved the files?  Your description of the issue makes it sound as if you have not.

If you have not, you'll want to use MB's file organization tools to move the files to where you want them to be.  That way there's no discrepancy and no need to relink the music file paths.

Thanks for the reply, I've edited my post as regardless of the library folder path names, MusicBee locks up when clicking "Relink Music File Paths".

Yes, I need this as when I move and rename my library folder (data & settings only) from "D:\Music\MB Library" to "E:\MusicBee\MusicBee Library" (the music files staying in the same directory (D:\Music\Music), not moving), MusicBee changes the "root" location of where it expects the music files to be from "D:\Music\Music" to "E:\Music\Music\".

This is how my MusicBee is setup right now:

D:\Music\MB Library (library folder, data & settings only - what I want to move to and rename to "E:\MusicBee\MusicBee Library")
D:\Music\Music (all music files)

Have you already moved the files?

I'm using duplicates of my library folder to try and achieve what I want atm

These tools appear to be for music files. To be clear, I'm only wanting to move my library folder (data & settings only), the the music file folder is staying where it is

If I understand correctly, you simply want to move the MB library (settings, etc.) only, correct? If so, Preferences > Library > Move Library
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Thanks for the suggestion, I saw this option, but wasn't sure if it would also move all music files as it says "...and any sub-music folders" in the explorer pop-up window when clicking "Move Library", so to be sure I just didn't use it. Some clarification on this option would be appreciated

I dont know why it was freezing. I have decided not to attempt default values and this version should work
https://getmusicbee.com/patches/MusicBee35_Patched.zip

Thanks for this, turns out it was freezing because I was not giving MusicBee enough time to fully rescan the library and display the "These tracks are missing" window before using the Relink Music File Paths tool, so this issue is resolved now.
