Hi everyone,
since it has been a while since I used musicbee, Iwanted to know if it's possible to manage my library on my NAS with musicbee now.

Last time I checked it was suggested to avoid it, is still the same?

Define "manage my library."

If you mean being able to install and run MB on a NAS, the answer would be no. Unless the NAS software is Windows.

If you mean keeping all you music files on the NAS, then this has been doable for many, many years.

Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

I meant that I would install musicbee on my PC while the monitored folder and the library folder are both on my nas connected via SMB.
So it can now manage it? :D That's really a great news!

I've been using MB for more than ten years, starting with v0.3, and I've always had my music files on my NAS. It's never been an issue. I do believe you have to map a drive letter to the music files as using a UNC will not work.

Great! I'll use it today then :D
There is any difference between the installer and the store version other than auto update?

Functionality-wise, no. But the Store version gets updated less frequently and bugs and/or new and improved functionality would lag way behind the Installer and Portable versions. Both of which have patch updates quite often. As Steven is transitioning from 3.5 to 3.6, you can expect to see frequent 3.6 patches. But not yet as 3.6 is sort of pre-alpha at this point. A number of us have been using it for at least a month with no issues.

I strongly suggest getting rid of the Store version and going Portable. Just be sure to place it in a folder that's outside of Windows control. Such as x:\MusicBee. You can have the Store and Portable versions installed at the same time as you configure the Portable to your liking. Once you're happy with Portable, uninstall the Store. And live happily ever after.
