Improving Rdio Style background image

Hi everyone,

I'm resurrecting a dead question that I've searched for before posting. Is there a way to improve blurry background artwork in Rdio style ? Like some people, I got a lot of compression artifacts (squares mostly), even if my artwork is never less than 1500 x 1500. So my idea would have been to increase the blur effect through the xml file but I can't find a "blur level" attributes in the many examples I've seen. Any other idea ?

Nothing of the sort is available for customization at the moment. You could try requesting it but that would be a long shot.
According to this thread, it was never something simple and what we have now is the best compromise:
