A Tips & Tricks topic like 'how to start creating a MusicBee plugin' comes to mind for something like that?
It wouldn't need to be a 10.000 words tutorial, but it could contain some links and pointers on where to look and how to begin?

this would be much better than posting development guides (or even just tips) here. but maybe on "development" board rather than on "tips & tricks"?

also, i think that this topic, doesn't matter if created on this board or on "development" board, must be stick. (though, this must be addressed to the mods)

Yep, that ought to do it too - added to one of my future projects if no one gets to it before me.
If you get to that, I got you covered.

haha, given how I struggle to make thumbnails for my add-ons, this looks promising for the next contribution that requires it.
The inscription on the cover would make some motivational story today (for the dummy I was 3 years ago).

Came to the forum not knowing what an API was (after the 1 year basic comp. sci. class I had), and today, I can confidently stand on a podium to say I can string together a functional plugin. This is the only place I've gotten to code since that 1 year, and I really like how I continue to learn all these amazing concepts shared here (it's a cute hobby).

I'm starting to go way off-topic here but I want to mention that I like to code as it has serious resemblance to how the human body functions (I'm intrigued by such).

"MusicBee forum - turning dummies into something since 2008" - new slogan for the community?

Yeah, but no, but, English language...
Mayibongwe is something of an asset for MusicBee's forum and its users.
(I think that's proper English, not 100% sure though)

@hiccup, i think you've undeservedly overlooked "Classic Spectrum Analyzer" plugin.
Thanks. But I just tried it, and I can't get it to work.
I followed the instructions (copying a dll and a folder to the plugins folder), but it doesn't show up in the Panels Configuration panel:

Do you have any idea why that could be?

How can I add pitch control and tempo control to the available elements?
Is it a plug-in?

Go to Prefs/player/sound effects/"Equaliser & DSP" button in lower right corner.
In the list of "DSP Plugins," check "Tempo Control".  This brings up a panel where both pitch and tempo may be adjusted.

Is it possible to display them on the sidebar or main panel?

They can be added separately as pitch, sample rate, or tempo control panels to the main interface via Panel Configuration (View menu->Arrange Panels).  They appear in the "Available Elements" list on the right, drag them over to the left to the desired placement.

BTW, MusicBee 3.6 is required for this option; you can update to that with the patch from phred's signature file.  If you have 3.5 now, then FIRST update that using the 3.5 update patch (also linked on phred's sig), then do the 3.6 patch.

Afterwards you can also update to the newest bass_fx.dll, which is the source of these options, by replacing the one from the 3.6 patch with the one here (version 2.4.12.11, 03/06/2024): http://www.un4seen.com/stuff/bass_fx.zip .

Now that is a complete answer!! :o
