When navigating to the playlist notepad a bunch of songs just appear as:

   '  C:\Users\Name\Music\MusicBee\ 0 False ÿÿÿÿ    ÿÿÿÿ

Is this a known issue and does it come with a solution?

MPB playlists are not plain text and not editable in notepad.

Trying to edit a playlist in notepad could have caused the problem.  Is this what you did?

If not, we'll probably need more information about what steps you took and things you were doing right before the problem occurred in order to even begin to figure out why it happened.

I don't know what you mean by "When navigating to the playlist notepad,"  but my guess is your problem is that the files on your playlists are no longer in the same location that they were when you made the playlist; for example you moved them to a different folder, or the drive letter of the device they are on has changed, etc.  Locate them with Windows File Explorer, and then search the Forum for the many posts here that deal with how to re-link the files.

Thanks for the replies, but I have not edited the playlist files or moved the music folders. Truth be told I havent opened MB in a month or so. When I opened it back up i just noticed the issue. Not quite sure what I did differently. Didnt change any settings or add music since a couple of months ago either. To sveakul, it is when I follow that path of folders starting from the C drive I get to MB's playlists. Opening that up shows me a list of notepad files that track the playlists and in a playlist that had one song in it, the text I posted is all I see.

First of all, your original post said "Most of the songs in my playlists disappeared"--does that mean when you view the playlists within MusicBee, the files are marked as missing?

As far as the Notepad files thing you can associate anything with Notepad but that doesn't mean it's a text file.  In the example you gave at least, it sounds like what frankz said is what happened--you opened a binary *.mbp playlist file into Notepad.  If you were doing that before and attempting to re-save or alter any of the contents, they become wrecked.

If it's been so long since you even used MusicBee, I would recommend a complete uninstall, a re-install of the latest PORTABLE version from this website to a folder like C:\MusicBee, and then recreate your library and playlists.  Don't even try to carry over any old settings, etc.  Fresh is good, even if it takes an hour or so.
