File Rescan changing WAV date info

I like to tag the Year field with a full release date, i.e. "2023-06-19". If I apply a date like this to a WAV file and then send it to File Rescan, it changes the field to "1906" in this case. Does anyone know if there's a workaround to fix this, or if it could possibly be changed in the future?

The ID3v2.3 spec for mp3 files, and for the YEAR field, is a 4-digit integer only.

There are other date fields that can support year-month-day-hours-minutes-seconds.
