[Resolved] Why is Sort By Year Greyed Out?

Firstly, apologies if this has been explained here before.

I'm trying to sort albums by release year when viewing any artist/album-artist, but I can't seem to figure out how. In the Sort By menu from right clicking the menu that chooses Album Artist, the option for Year is greyed out (screenshot below). I've also tried going into preference settings and adding sort by year to the defined sorting settings, which doesn't seem to make a difference for me either.



Any help with this? Cheers

It might be helpful if you gave some details about what panel you are using for this, and provided details about how you have set it up.
(perhaps by posting a screenshot that show a bit more than the current highly cropped one)

for v3.6, date sorting i supported for date typed fields
