Author Topic: "arrow" navigation in track browser  (Read 5035 times)

Hello Steven,

While I was happily tagging away, I struggled with MusicBee's navigation:
the Track Browser only acts upon mouse clicks.

Could you please make it possible to navigate via keyboard?

(shift) "tab"  -  to tab through the three columns (backward/forward)
"arrow up/down"  -  to select and update the layout window respectively

Right now, "tab" lets resize the Track Browser which is rather surprising...
and "enter" does nothing in it...

Thanks for considering,
D.

at the momement tab would be tabbing between controls (rather than tabbing between the 3 columns as you were expecting), so if the focus "landed" on the resize splitter the up/down arrow would behave as you saw.
however if you click on one of the columns with the mouse the up/down arrow should work (including typing the first letter of what you are looking for) - let me know if you dont find that
i'll change the tab behavior as you request, so if one of the track browser columns has focus tab (and shift tab) tabs between the columns,
so keeping focus in the track browser and ensuring up/down will work within the track browser

Thank you, Steven,

Much appreciated!

I think I have to explain further what I meant with my second point:

For the time being, hitting the up and down arrow in the Track Browser
does not update the layout window, i.e. the main panel,
or the other Track Browser columns (those to the right)!

I can highlight entries and jump by typing (cool!) but all of this has no consequence
on the main panel (or other Browser columns), which should update accordingly
to show what I have selected.

By the way,
the best thing would be if you could tab through the columns and then into the main panel.
And then shift-tab back again. (Like moving along a chain. Not a circle.)
It works like that in MediaMonkey and feels very natural and practical.

Thanks again,
D.
