i'm not sure i understand your initial proposal but reading through the posts made with Anti it sounds like what is needed is
to have a "overwrite existing files" option on the file organiser dialog.
which i would be OK to do for manual re-orgs eg. Send To/ Folder (Move)... etc
but not for the library auto-organiser

Yeah, I think that sounds right. "Overwrite existing files in the original location" would be what I initially requested.. I know you mentioned earlier that doing this for auto-organizing would be quite a difficult task, so this would be a suitable compromise.

Isn't it quite dangerous to allow auto-organise to over-write files?
Is it possible to put something stupid into the naming template and delete half your files without meaning to?
