I am expecting the Restore/Move/Size/Minimize/Maximize/Close box to appear like for every other taskbar item, but nothing happens.

I have four items (including MB) in my taskbar at the moment and not one of them shows the options you say should be there.
Is MB pinned to the taskbar and not opened?
What version of MB are you using? (Help > About)
How was MB installed? (Store, Installer, Portable)

Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

I guessing the OP is referring to the caption bar in musicbee.
The caption bar is done with custom skinning and doesnt support the right click context menu being referred to.
If its important to you, untick View/ Skins/ Skin Window Borders

You are correct, turning off "Skin Windows Borders" allows the right click context menu on the taskbar.

It's also hideous!! Ack!! The top left MusicBee has the dark theme, but the rest of the bar is a blinding absent white. I guess I just won't have a context menu when I right click?
