Hey :)

Would it be possible to add custom ID3 tags to the selection of title filters in the toolbar?

I'm using a custom ID3 tag to differentiate between "albums", "singles", "compilations", etc.- and it would be a breeze to be able to quickly filter the library to only show albums.
I know this is possible with the field browser, but that one takes up way too much real estate :(

Ideally, the button in the toolbar will be a fixed filter to show only a fixed value of an id3 tag (e.g. only "album" from a custom "albumtype" tag) - but I assume that won't be possible?

Holy moly, I didn't even know this existed.
+1 to allow more tags in this section... I would especially like <Sort Album>, which is where I label the album type

adding custom Filters to the toolbar would be nice
and enable the possibility to select several filters for a library would be really cool

+1, it would be awesome to filter at least by more of the standard tags, if not custom tags.  I currently have filters set up on the toolbar for Genre and Year, which I use regularly (they are very helpful for cleaning up my genre tags quickly as well as, to some extent, identifying and correcting malformed dates such as Empty, 0, 198, etc.).

However, I have a custom tag that shows the Original Year unless it is blank, in which case it shows the Year.  Having the ability to add this as a filter would be awesome.

Another aspect of filtering that would be intriguing would be create drop down menus from any displayed column heading, in much the same way as Excel does.  Apologies if this idea is too far off from the original request, I will remove if that is the case.

That's the menu for toolbar buttons, right? If so, you can include other custom/virtual tags there:

For your tags to be included, they need to be set as Enumerated in the Fields Layout Editor:

Damn, you're absolutely correct here - thanks for pointing this out,

Wish already granted then as far as I am concerned.

it's amazing ! MB has so much options !!!!
So it's possible to make custom filters and to link them to the toolbar (and to combine several filters)
In my case i was looking a way to easily hide tracks (and consequently albums...) and this option seems to do the trick....
Just one thing, if i understand well, filters run on music files tags (official or custom tags) in the main panel
If i would like to hide some artists or create and display sub libraries (All, favorite A, favorite B...) in the same way (using buttons)
Would it be possible ? At the moment, i'm trying different things using different options in the 'Thumbnails browser'...

You've likely already determined the answer to this, but yes.
What you're trying to achieve can easily be done by applying filters based on regular and Custom Tags.
