View Play History and Recently Added

I'm pretty sure I was able to view Recently Added Tracks in the left hand panel.  It seems to have disappeared.  How can I get it back?

For recently added:
Create an auto-playlist where the criteria is
Date Added / is in the last / [select your desired time frame]

For recently played:
Create an auto-playlist where the criteria is
Last Played / is in the last / [select your desired time frame]

That appears (appeared?) by default just under the "Playlists" listing along BEFORE all your custom playlists start--actually there are 3 default autoplaylists.  Be sure you have "Playlists" checked in Prefs/Layout(1).  If you have accidently deleted the autoplaylist, follow phred's instructions to recreate one.
