Hi Steven,

I sent an album of mp3's to my iPod and encountered unexpected results. The files were placed in the music (root) folder, but not into the F00-F99 folders. I then sent FLAC files to the iPod. They converted to mp3, but were also placed in the root directory. Am I doing something incorrect? I don't sync files, mainly because my library is so large and I don't want everything loaded onto my iPod. Any help would be muchly appreciated (There wasn't much info here in the forum).

Regards,
Dirk

it sounds like its seeing the device as a USB drive rather than an iPod. To confirm, on the left panel where you see the ipod icon, do you also see a 'Storage Media' folder which you can drill into (with an iPod it would normally only show the music library and podcast icons).
Also could you confirm there is a folder in the root directory called iPod_Control

I recall there is a setting in iTunes that controls where you manage the device as a disk but i cant remember what effect that has

I don't see an iPod icon. It's more like a USB or HDD icon. There is a Storage icon and "iPod_Control" is there. I also see Podcast icon. MB scans the music folders OK as well. One other thing, the databases were not updated in the iPod either. Just files transferred to the root directory. I have a 5G iPod Classic 80G.

ok, its definitely not recognising it as an iPod and thats why you are having this behavior - its treating it like a USB disk.
could you let me know the exact location of the iPod_Control folder - is it in the root directory?

The two folders that must exist are:
X:\ipod_control\iTunes\
X:\ipod_control\Music\

where X: is whatever drive letter you have it mounted on

Also you are using the latest MusicBeeIPod.dll file i am distributing with the recent MusicBee.exe releases?

The directories are "E:\iPod_Control\Music\F00-F99" and "E:\iPod_Control\iTunes". Also, this may have something to do with Admin Rights. I will also check this out when I get home. I am using MusicBeeIPod.dll 1.0.0.0 6/14/09.

yes i think you might be correct about needing admin rights and the version of MusicBeeIPod.dll is OK. But have you used MB on the device from home before?

Yes, I connected it at home, but it was awhile back and I never sent or converted files with it.

I wasn't sure about admin rights, because MB allows me to rip CD's and a lot of other things without Admin Rights. Most other programs, even foobar, can't access the CD-ROM without admin rights.

Hi Steven,

I have the same problem at home, as well. I have an older 4G here and that works perfectly with MB. So, I did a reset with the Classic in iTunes and wiped it clean. All went well in iTunes, but when I hooked it up to MB, I still had the same issue. It picks up the name, capacity and free space, but reads "Unknown" for serial number, manufacturer and battery. foobar sees the reset iPod. All iPod Device Information shows up correctly. Also, this Classic shows up in foo_dop as an "iPod 6G Silver", Firmware version 1.1.2.

Hi Steven,

My iPod playlists were out of order in MB, and when I pressed List>Update Play Order I received this error.
