1. yes it is repurposing the tag id for Touring and Picture Location is really the same thing, just used in a different place so feel free to use the same translation for the two
2. i cant find that anywhere - it has the correct words
3. yes change them to plural. i have done the same in the musicbee code
4. will be: #Main.msg.neetobsel#   {0} need to be selected
5. sure
6. you are right. Its now: #MBL.msg.PlayerSir#   Shows a sample rate control panel.

Thanks!

Another typo present in the English version (English3_5.dat, available in the first thread post):
embeded instead of embedded

Corrected lines (line numbers in English3_5.dat)

730:#Main.menu.LSEiMF#  Lyrics Source: Embedded in Music File
1824:#Dev.msg.Eainr-satw#       Embedded artwork is not recommended - synching and tagging will perform much slower.
2609:! cuesheet editor - opened from the tag editor when a file has an embedded cuesheet
4182:#Art.msg.embinfile#        Embedded
4184:#Art.msg.Eacobs#   Embedded artwork cannot be disabled
4185:#Art.msg.Eacobsaf# Embedded artwork can only be set as the highest or lowest priority

The remaining occurrence is a folder name -> no change:

4849:#PLE.ctl.3896D6C6# if the TheaterMode plugin is enabled, the selection includes any skins in folder: Plugins/TheaterMode.Embeded

EDIT: clarification

Hi there,
I'm new to MusicBee and I love it. There are some words in the German language file that I'd like to edit though: German can come up with super long and strange words, which is especially bad when you want to auto-size the columns e.g.
Unfortunately, when I open the German.lngc with Notepad++, it's obvious that I can't edit it just like that. So, how do I edit a language file? Is there an encoder/decoder for .lngc files? Do I have to change it into an .xml before? I'll appreciate any help. 🙏🏼

Hello Kenika, and welcome to the forum.

The .lngc files are the encoded versions of the original .lng files, which are plain text, but also recognised by MusicBee.
You can download the latest .lng for German here:
https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3278.msg230841#msg230841
Place your edited version of that file in the Localisation folder, and select it from MB's preferences.

By the way, if you have suggestions for the translator, you can post them in that thread.

Indeed,
Contacting Roadrunner, who has been doing the German translation for a very long time now would be the proper and best first step.
If he agrees with any of your suggestions for improvement, he could integrate them in his next release.

Awesome! Thank you for the quick responses and the warm welcome. Much appreciated.
Alright, Roadrunner is the man. I'll try to keep that in mind.

Well, no need to keep it in mind really.
Either post your suggestions in the 'German localisation' thread so that Roadrunner can evaluate it, or create your own translation file and keep it to yourself.

The latest translator file seems to have 'Custom Sorting' missing.
(for the newly added feature, it shows up in the panel header)

It looks like this hotkey function is missing:

(or maybe it is something specific to a certain plugin only?)

There are several translation entries for MusicBee's 'welcome dialogue panel':

But when starting MusicBee for the very first time, that panel will be in English.

I'm not sure how translations would work for it?
Shouldn't another panel open first that asks the user what language he wants to use?
And after that the more advanced configuration panel should open in the chosen language?

Am I missing something?

edit:
I believe there isn't a translation entry for 'Welcome'. (the panel title)

on a brand new install, the first dialog should be a language selector. If you contrived the install from an existing settings file, that step would be skipped

I'm not getting a language selector.
Could it be that the portable installer doesn't have this?

looking at the code, if the windows configured language is English, it skips the language selector
