Author Topic: Why are my iTunes playlists not correctly imported  (Read 4027 times)

I recently started using Musicbee and I love it. But I noticed one huge big problem that really stings me.

The playlists I made in Itunes are not correctly imported.

Don't get me wrong, all my songs are added to Musicbee. It's just that some songs are placed in a playlist.
Especially the songs that I recently bought on Itunes.

below you can see some screenshots of some of my songs that are not in a playlist.

I already tried to import from iTunes again but it didn't work.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Your screenshots show tracks that aren't in playlists, but they don't show what the tracks are or what playlists you expect them to be in. Can you tell us that, and show us your playlists in the left navigator or playlist directory?

Hello and Thank You.

Here is another Screenshot showing all the Playlist.

BTW the way how I did it is like this:

1. buy songs on Itunes

2. put songs in specific playlists made by me

3. learn about musicbee and download it

4. use the "import from Itunes" function and start listening to music

If there is anything else that you need that could be useful to solve this problem just say it and I will do what is needed. I really want this to be fixed

I don't know much about iStuff, and also have not read this thread very well, so take this as only a quick mind burp:
Could it be that the problematic files have some copy protection on them?

Did you export your itunes library to xml (that gets imported into MB) after buying the tracks and adding them to the library, or did you import an old version of the XML that existed before the tracks and then scan separately to import the additional files?

I don't think so because I was able to copy all the songs to my phone without any problems.
P.S. I am not sure if it is the same thing

I haven't touched my Itunes files
(only copy paste to my phone)

That's not what I asked.

When you imported your library from itunes, it imported an XML copy of your itunes library at that time. Was the XML copy from before or after you added the tracks?

Since I don't understand your question I will provide you with some screenshot. If these Screenshots are not helping please let me know.

the pictures in the screenshot are from left to right

If needed I can also give my Teamviewer. If that would make things easier

When you did "Import from iTunes," MusicBee asked you to select a file. Was the file that you selected at that point created before or after you bought the tracks you're asking about and added them to iTunes playlists?

Why is this in bug reports?

It never asked me to select any file. After I pressed on the import option a little window popped up. In that windows I just pressed Proceed. After that, it started importing everything.

I placed this topic in bugs because I feel like Musicbee should be able to take all the songs and put them in the corresponding playlist without me having to correct it.

I suggest you export a fresh version of your library from iTunes and then use the "Locate iTunes" button to ensure it's importing the proper one.

MusicBee does.

Why would I mean import but say export?  Of course do not keep importing the same thing that didn't work over and over again. That would be a waste of time.

I'm saying that, within iTunes, there is the function to export your library in XML format. Do that function again, however it is done.  I cannot give you a step by step on that as I do not have iTunes and do not know how to make iTunes export the XML.  I'll bet google does.

Then use the fresh, up to date version to create your MusicBee library.

Question, though.  If you know what files these are and know that they should be in playlists and know which playlists they should be in, why not just add them to the playlists now in MB and be done with it?

I never used the export function from Itunes. I only downloaded the songs I have bought and I am still buying songs that I don't own yet.
I used to have a Spotify Premium account. But I switchted from streaming song to buying songs. I still haven't bought all the songs that I have in my Spotify account.

The reason why I dont want to bother with putting them in playlists is because I already did that in Itunes. I don't want to do it again.

I will look up on how to export my Itunes songs/playlist and import it to Musicbee. After I have done that I will infrom you with the results.
