no, not better. try to temporary disable Avast and unzip latest path again. note that you must unzip it to *existing* folder where mb is already installed (because patch is incremental, doesn't contain all required files, only updated files).

You should whitelist c:\program files (x86)\MusicBee in each place where Avast requires it and try to apply the patch again.  Or do what I did and uninstall Avast and use Windows Defender, which is just as highly rated and much easier on resources.

If you uninstall and reinstall, you'll just have to apply the patch again, as the installation version is several revisions behind the patches.

After turning off firewall, I saved the zip file and extracted in the Music folder, which is where MusicBee folder is located.  But it still does not work.  Same thing for when I save it right inside the Music > MusicBee folder, tried that too.

I only get as far as choosing "English" and after pressing next the following 2 error messages pop up in the following order:

The system cannot find the path specified.

The type initializer for '#=z09yslOv9ekXlrzHLLaJgz5o' threw an exception.

Where is your original MusicBee.exe from your original install?  You need to unzip to that folder.

If you downloaded and installed the installation version, that would be C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee

If you downloaded and installed the portable version, it can be anywhere, but it doesn't sound like you did that.

If you installed the Windows Store version originally, you can't apply patches.

:-X  I uninstalled MB and deleted the MB folders in the Music section and reinstalled it.

1) When I tried to save the exe zip into C Program Files x86 MusicBee it would not allow me to and asked if I wanted to save it to Downloads instead.

2) When I saved the reinstalled Music Bee download from MB website installation version, I saved the zip file in the Downloads folder.  It's called MusicBeeSetup_3_2_Update3.  That's also where I saved the patch that Steven just provided.  When I try to unzip and run the patch here, after selecting English it pops up an

well, uninstall mb, install again regular (not portable version). mb will be installed to 'c:\program files (x86)\musicbee'. download Steven's patch to 'downloads' folder. extract all files from patch zip to (for example) 'downloads\patch' folder. move all files from 'downloads\patch' to 'c:\program files (x86)\musicbee' by windows explorer. overwrite all files on moving when you are asked to. run mb as you do this usually.

You don't 'run' the patch. You extract the files from the patch and copy them to the directory where MB lives. And allow the new files to overwrite the old files. Then run MusicBee. exe and you should be good.

Or you can extract the files -directly- into the MB directory. Again, allow the new files to overwrite the old ones.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

frankz, boroda, phred, I was now able to copy and paste/replace the files where MB lives in program files.  I ran the .exe and it opened up MB library so I hope that I did it correctly.

Unfortunately the Mood tags are still in presumably Japanese and Chinese characters for many songs.

When does the next update of MB take place?  Will that automatically update the little glitches like this the next time it gets updated?   :-X

Thank you Steven and everybody for your input!

There is no schedule to updates. Steven releases patches for v3.3 every few days. If he resolves your issue, he'll mention it on this thread along with a link to the patch. It's not likely that simply trying the next patch will fix the issue. It won't be fixed by itself. Note that all patches are located at the same link and have the same filename.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.

@daniela, I think you must rescan all files first. then look if mood tags are corrected.

Yes, what boroda said:  menu-->Tools-->Advanced-->Rescan All Files after applying Steven's last patch the way phred described (EXTRACT, OVERWRITE).  And remember to whitelist the whole MusicBee folder in Avast like frankz said PERMANENTLY, don't just "temporarily allow", etc.  You should be fixed now.
