Cancel button behavior while syncing to a device?

When I press the cancel button while my music library is being synced to a device will it delete the files it put on there?

I am trying to put a large amount of files on an SD card and it will take many hours. I have a few hours invested and would like to pause the transfer and I am worried I will lose all my progress. Will the files stay on the SD card if I press cancel and I can press sync at a later time to pick up where I left off? Or will it delete the files it has transferred once I press the cancel button?
