G'day Forum:

I've been doing a lot of research on the topic of Volume Analysis in order to get my library squared away in this regard.  As I have a relatively large library and sync with a couple portable devices any changes are fairly time consuming.  Please forgive me if my questions are obvious to you or repetitive.  Please correct any assumptions I make as well.

In the following questions, assume I have done a "select all" for all tracks in my library:

- My collection is primarily FLAC.  But I have some MP3, as well as M4a.  My target is normalize volume by track because I do most my listening by random selection.  I do listen to albums - turning off Replay Gain will play the album as recorded?

- When I "Restore Original Volume" will MusicBee set the target tags regardless of format?  My assumption is this step will erase all metadata relative to playback volume.  I believe I have read where this should be performed(or at least doesn't hurt) before I do any volume analysis.  Anyway, this is where I'm at right now.

- Similar question regarding Volume Analysis itself.  I assume the tags will be set regardless of file type.

- I intend to set my library at -6db(I have a lot of variation - jazz will do that to you).  So when I rip a CD or add something from Apple and MusicBee performs a Volume Analysis, does it "know" I am looking for that -6db?

- In the Tag Editor, Settings - Volume Adjustment.  I have not seen this deviate from "none".  I understand this to be separate from Replay Gain.  What I don't understand why this is reflected as a percentage.  A percentage of what?  What happens if I change this for my library?  This has no effect on portable devices, correct?

Thanks in advance for your time...
