I'm using the year (yyyy) tag to sort albums with the same year from the same artist, but released in different months. I tried all the possible ways to write the date down but the album I want above the other one doesn't move. Here are some pictures.

(In this case I want Surfer Girl above Little Deuce Coupe)

Help :(

Because you're using the four digit tag for sorting, it can't see the month.
Instead of sorting by clicking on that column header, use "sort by" option by clicking on the view button on the top left of the main panel ("Tracks" in your screenshot). You could select year tag instead of year(yyyy) tag and other tags for the sort by option and also create a custom sorting set.

I'm facing this same issue.
The thing is that when sorting with 'year' instead of year(yyyy)', the sorting is still wrong, since it doesn't understand the days, months and years, it just sorts alphabetically. If the dates are 04/04/1999 and 01/07/2014, MusicBee thinks that 01/07/2014 goes first because it starts with 01 and the other 04.

MB needs to be able to parse the date to extract the year. If the format doesnt conform to your computer's regional settings then it wont work
